If you mean between the -3 and -5, there are a few-- but most not easily noticeable-- like engine variants and inner system differences.  However-- cowl flaps are a bit different, as well as the rear gun which goes from single to two... the A-24 is the Army variant, so no tailhook...a pneumatic tail wheel instead of the hard rubber, and different main gear treads-- but the kits usually give you both options.

I assume you are talking about Douglas SBD Dauntless... perhaps you should post your question in the Aircraft forum to get answers if nobody is able to help you here.  I assume it has something to do with the plastic being clear that you can see thru.  I am sure guys in Aircraft can help you... now you have made me curious about this.
