Yeah, I figure I've got about another six weeks or so before the weather is too cool for me to do any more painting.  Then I'll just switch over to building mode until March. 

This week I've been doing a lot of my detail work on the M2A2 Bradley.  I'm waiting on my local HobbyTown to restock it's Tamiya shelves so it's still in the "major sub-assemblies" stage.

Texas has two seasons:  HOT and football! 

Vance, Ball season over?  The sign of a good season was not wearing any braces or casts, and walking upright with no noticeable limp in the autumn.  Wasn't always that lucky.  OK, well let's pick up the pace man, Spring training's only about 130 days away.  I do have a Tamiya Mosquito (decked out with Eduard Photo Zoom) on the bench.  I'll probably show some pics soon.  It should be a good winter.   Rick

I wonder if this is just the slow time of the year.  I wonder if the FSM folks can check and compare.

Most of us are busy closing summer projects or rushing to do so before the cold wind shows up.

I'm getting ready to build our Pirate ship extending from our front porch.  It's our Halloween traditional decoration.  I don't think  I'll do a WIP, but I'll show a picture.  We have been getting around 2,000 trick-or-treaters the last few years.  We have a ball with this.  Rick

Yeah, but there's also lots of holiday, family stuff to do that gets in the way.  Personally, I get as much building done as I can and when I do get a day when the weather warms up enough I'll fire up the compressor and get as much painting done as I can.  I'm just not willing to do it when it's 20 degrees(F) outside!

Yeah, but when the Forum slowed last Spring everyone said that it was because of outdoor activities and vacations getting in the way and that the cold months were their biggest modeling months...just sayin'...

 

I know I make better progress in the fall / winter months, inside much more of course.

I really think the stupidity of a few weeks ago and the subsequent loss of the O&E is playing a role. I mean, a fairly significant figure passed away yesterday, and I'm sure several of us would have had some thoughts to share...but now there's nowhere for that kind of interaction to take place.

I, for one, went to Twitter and Facebook instead.

It's been wonderful here for the past week or so. Highs around 90, lows around 65. Nice breeze. Still waiting for that first fall cold snap (for us, that's highs in the low 80s), but I'll totally take this.

Yeah, we've actually got a 40% chance of Saturday night into Sunday.  It's been in the mid to high 80s all week. 

I actually picked up my Revell 1/48 F-18 yesterday and dry fitted it some.

Yeah, can't say I was Charles Napier's biggest fan but I did have a soft spot for his work. I  swear there wasn't a single TV series made in the '80s he didn't guest star in.

I am with those that say this place has gotten slower once O&E got nuked. There was almost always far more activity there daily than on most other forums, except the mainstream builds of Group Builds, Aircraft, Armor and Ships, put together weekly. As for me and weather, now that it has cooled off (including my new pool) I am spending more time on the work bench than during the dog days of summer. Not that we had much of a summer here this year anyways. Very mild again... Only a couple nights where it was actually really warm well into the evening after sunset.

except for me: I've been doing last minute exterior trim painting, now that the summer long

( almost every day )

rainy season has lifted.

Next up:

cut , bend and install 3 pieces of  8 foot strips of white painted aluminum sheet metal to replace the stuff torn off during one of this summer's 50 + MPH wind storms.

yep...nothing else to do.... 'cause the drive towards Moscow ALWAYS stalls with the first snows...

It's mid-70's, low humidity down here in Chapel Hill--perfect for painting, and I've been working on a tank and a car, both. Much better weather than the dreary rain of upstate New York from where I came.

I think that group builds siphon off alot of posters who might ordinarily post in regular forums, too., and there's a few of them going on.

Yeah, but there are always a few GBs going on, so I don't think the slowness can be explained by that. I have to admit, this place has seemed a lot quieter since the Big Blowup weekend. It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, turns that around.

Awe come on Hans!  I shut my HVAC system off about a month ago, this is pure eden, warm days.... cool nights.
