Who Makes Treadplate in 1/24 or 1/25 scale?

No sweat...

Just a little "Old School"...

I just tried the foil burnishing method advocated by Hans von Hammer.

The result looks like the proper size pattern and I'm satisfied that I can use the method to create realistic looking diamond tread for my projects.

I did find this

but the nothing further so far regarding a manufacturer website.

I'll do a further search, but will try the method Hans described first as being able to produce my own parts would be far more useful ; I am not dependant upon an uncertain supply.

Unfortunately, my digital camera doesn't do very good macro photography so I'd post a description of my results.

Post again when ya get free of those Bigfoot hunters ...........

                       Well gotta run the bigfoot hunters are in northern Mn. and I'll be darned if there aint a bit of a commotion outside right now, cripes its them theyve found me.LOL

                         I got some on E-Bay very cheap and it was said to be 1/35th but upon recieving it ,it looked more in the 1/24-1/25th scale. Techstar was the name on the packaging,let me find it and I'll shoot a pic or two next to a stainless rule.

Looks like that stuff was burnished onto plastic or fiberglass screen..  Wire screen is what I'm talking about, and it should give you a pretty good tread-plate pattern if the foil is lightly burnished... That way only the "top" of each wire is transferred to the foil..

However, what I might do is glue a screen to a flat surface and trim away sections for the diamond plate pattern.

Then I could burnish foil onto that.

.....if the glue welds the screen segments onto the base layer and those segments aren't torn off during trimming.

I'll give that method a try.

Actually "Diamond" and "tread" plate are redundant when used together, IIRC from my welding days...

Unfortunately, Diamond tread plate is not listed on his website and seem to have been discontinued.

I've tired making foil impressions of the small parts I have with diamond pattern tread plate and shifting the foil to enlarge the area of the impression.

Hard to get a neat overall effect.

I'll keep trying various methods while looking.

i dont know if he is still in business, but try Fred Resin Workshop. theres was pretty good. i used it on a 1/25 tractor trailer i did about 2 years ago and it is pretty good.

I use Plastruct treadplate for 1/25th scale modeling. Their sizing is way off though. At one time their 1/48th scale chequerplate was identical to what AMT used on their firetrucks. They then called the same size stuff HO scale.  You need to check it out at in person because if its off the web the sixing may not agree with the actual scale you want. The stuff they call 1/25th scale has diamonds that scale out to 2-3 inches.

Italeri has some chrome plated tread plate in thie truck accessories kit also

I agree checking in person is necessary.

I was just checking one brand at a LHS ( don't recall the name right now ) but the 1/24 version was dual  diamond tread plate.....can't use it on WWII armor, I presume.

A 1/48th version looked better as far as spacing but the raised pattern was just elongated blobs. UGH!

I may ask Plastruct if they will send CADD  ( DWG ) files for me to check as it appears I am just wasting money if I buy any diamond plate marked 1/24th scale.

If you cannot find actual treadplate in styrene sheet, Archer makes dry transfers of the diamonds so you can add it to plain styrene sheets, though I don't remember what scales they make it in.
