I agree with Don: Micro Mark is not always a great place to buy. But some of their stuff is both good and extremely well priced. I recommend their Doc O'Brien's Weathering Powders: 12 colors for $20. Every bit as useful as the much more expensive pigments from MIG and others. (Just bought some remarkable pigments made by the famous oil paint maker Sennelier: fine beyond belief and also cheaper than MIG per volume.) I sure do like their catalogs - I don't know what I'd do with an $800 mini-lathe but it's nice to know that I can buy one.

I consider MM to be about the most expensive place to buy something, so I only buy the stuff there that I can't get anywhere else, except for a couple of things.

I find their inkjet decal paper in line with other sources and of good quality.  Same thing for their RTV and casting resin.

But they sure have a great selection of tools- many that I know of no other source for.

When I was a mechanic it was pretty much the same deal with the Snap-On truck that came once a week.  There were some weeks I'd walk off that truck with a $200-$300 purchase.  I prolly have $30,000 in tools and can damn near fix anything on a car.  Wish I had $30,000 in modeling tools hehehehehe.

Micro-Mark is great! I bought a couple of hundred dollars in tools and supplies from them when I set up my modeling mise en place. I just started building models again, having last done one when I was a kid. I'm amazed at all the great tools there are to make the building process easier and more detailed.

This company is outstanding. They have so many cool little gadgets and tools that you can easily blow a cool Franklin on an order in no time at all.

This company will make you a better modeler. I use them quite often.

How many of you have bought tools from this firm ? Well , I gotta tell you .I just bought some stuff I,ve seen in their catalogues for a while now . I got my package yesterday . Now I wonder if I,ll be able to watch my tool budget . How did I ever get along for all these years without these items ? The bending pliiers are outstanding for doing tight AND gentle bends in P.E. The Micro Punch set makes awesome holes and the " diamond reamers are the perfect tool for cleaning up the brass tubing when I build 1/96 masts . Like I said  ,How did I get along without them ? How ? well , for one thing I used old X-ACTO blades as reamers and used jewelers pliers for the bending stuff .These tools are so much better for an AULD PHART like me ! I understand MODEL -EXPO is cheaper on something like tools , BUT , I mistakenly thought they catered to the wooden ship modeler specifically .Boy , was I wrong . So to tie this up .I WILL buy more from MICRO-MARK and now MODEL- EXPO too ! Gees , time flies when you,re having fun don,t it ? Catchya Later    tankerbuilder
