Paypal email scam going around BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by B-17 Guy on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 5:22 PM

FYI fellas, there's a scam for paypal going around beware!!! If you get an email asking you to update info or, there may have been an unusual charge linked to your account, or....your account has been limited. Dont open it, just delete it. I got an email today, and said wtf?!, so I clicked the link, and everything really looked legit, till I looked at the address bar and the address had an edu in it and was not https. So I called paypal and asked about it, they said it was no good, and asked me to forward the email to them, which I did.

The mail really looked legit, it really did man. Where it who it said who it was from it said "services@security-paypal.com. And when I went to the link in the email, that even looked legit, most of the same tabs were there too, but the address in the address bar was this.

http://www.ausom.edu.lc/us/paypal.com/       DONT CLICK IT!!!!!

So beware folks!!!!!!! I know many of us use paypal here, myself included!

Thats not good. Usually when i get an email from somewhere that i use asking me to do something, ill go to the legit page and find my way there.

A general rule of thumb is never believe anything in your email related to money.

I am normally a bit cautious with any e-mails asking me for things, but nice to have a bit of warning. I will be on my guard. thanks for the heads up.

There's another one going around from the Post Office or UPS. I actually received this one--it says "Your package is undeliverable; please click on the attachment to get information on where you may retrieve your package/ see the tracking status..."---something like that.

When you click on the link it contains a Trojan Horse virus. My Norton picked it up and wouldn't allow it to open.

The most annoying ones are the ones that hack your contacts' names and send you a phony email from someone you already know.

I hate scammers. Think of a way to cure cancer instead of infecting another's computer or stealing their info for crying out loud.

Thanks for the heads up.

This and variations have been going around for some time. Best thing to do, as mentioned above, is not to click on links sent via e-mail and to use a bookmark or type the address manually. This happens with bank accounts as well as Paypal. They are trying to harvest and hijack accounts with money.
