Posted by tankboy51 on Friday, March 30, 2012 9:03 PM

Hello,  I ran across this site that Revell  is running. They'd like to have you share your first modeling memories.  The site is www.buildthememory.com

It looks like fun, so link on and have fun.

No thanks, never liked anything Revell.  And they don't need my personal information.

For me they were all balsa or pine.  Plastic didn't come along till I was a teenager :-(  I don't think Revell did any that weren't plastic, though I did build a large number of Monogram balsa kits.

Aurora and Lindberg kits were my normal fare growing up.

I don't think that they care if your first memories were with Revell kits, just when you first began modeling.  My first were all the older companies.  From what postings I saw, most folks were not even mentioning brands.  As for personal information, all they wanted was a first name, date of birth and place of birth.  I suppose you could put anything down for those if it bothers you.  I just thought it was a fun little thing to do.

I modeled whatever my "boss" wanted in the display case.  I started at 10 (64) & by 13 I had my badger air brush & was building "professionally" for the local hobby shop.  I did mostly Revel, Monogram, Tamiya, AMT.  For fun I did Guilows & Sterling Ukies for .049 or rubber free flight.

What a wonderful idea and a great opportunity to share with the modeling community, especially for the un-paranoid among us, like me. Confused

Thanks for posting the link--I'll definitely take part! SmileYes
