After a total of forty years combined military and civil service with the United States Navy, I have retired. I feel very privileged to have been able to serve for so long. I will miss it, I am sure, but am looking forward to my loooonnngg weekend.

Congratulations, and thank you for all of those years of hard work. We almost lost a bridge, but you all did win the Cold War.

Speaking of retired, we just started work on the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard project. That'll hopefully be MY retirement project. &50 acres, 10 years

Thanks a lot for the well wishes, guys. I have a modest stash, only around 15 or so, but they will occupy me for a bit. My biggest project is going to be to refurbish an old sailboat  to at least presentable standards. It's seaworthy but worn. The best thing about it is that it doesn't need any gas! It gets its power from a big fusion reactor in the sky. I love nuke boats.

Hey bondo! Good luck with Hunter's Point, clear out that neighborhood surrounding it first, it's a bit sporty there. Also, if I had destroyed that bridge, you'd have been cutoff from Oakland. Think about that.

Congrats, and thank you, Subfixer!  Now you can spend your time building sub  models instead of fixing real ones!

Well, that's why they hired us!

The area is coming up in the world. Great food, good music, excellent land for housing as the bay views are tremendous.

There won't be a 49ers Stadium, another project my brilliant wife has earned, but there will be a lot of nice open parks, and I get to go see the re-gunning crane and docks.

Many thanks, friends. You guys are the best!

Even though I won't be working on any more carriers or submarine reactors, I will still be able to see the ships when I want to. And I am sure that I will want to see them.  My favorites have always been the non-nuke ships like destroyers and amphibs that are here, too. After specializing in nuclear propulsion, I didn't get to board them as often as I would have liked. But now that I am retired, I will be able to visit my boys' and daughters-in-law's ships more and get my fix that way.

Happy Retirement!

Did 29 years and 21 days for my rich Uncle...  (I just HAD to get that tenth hash-mark, so went out on Terminal Leave)

And you WILL miss it... I sure do, anyway... Sometimes I feel like a deserter, like when my brigade deployed again, and did it without me...  I thought about getting another career, maybe at Aberdeen or Ft Sill, but the wheelchair I was stuck in for 3 and a half years put the kabosh on that...

But being a Bail-Enforcement Agent isn't a bad career-choice for a retired NCO.. Only work when I want to, but it's "Feast and Famine" for paydays though...   Maybe I need to get the wife and kids licensed, buy a couple black Suburbans,  get the wife a boob-job, and, *POOF*... A Reality TV show will happen... Whistling

Anyway, congrats again, and thanks, Brother Vet..
