Thanks for the heads up.  The search is much improved.  I like everything about it, except for the prices.

Thanks for posting!

I wonder if anyone will become a BIG SQUADRON GROUPIE after using the new search engine?

Although I have ordered about $350 worth of stuff from them in the last month, their search engine still pretty much sux...I also placed an order with them a few weeks ago with explicit instructions that it be to me before a weekend ant they messed that up as well, though they did give me free shipping on it in the end when I threatened to yank my business...

Does this mean your BIG SQUADRON GROUPIE status acquired during a previous purchase has expired?Hmm

Rats, ya mean I gotta learn a whole new process to use the Squadron site?  Actually, I thought the old one was fine, never had any trouble finding what I wanted.  (I guess that's because my computer skills are stuck in 1992...)

Re prices- Squadron has many super sales and discounts occasionally.  (See "42% off USS Arizona" thread.}  Last year on "Black Friday" they offered 40% off the total of anything in stock that added up to $200 or so, and a sliding scale of discounts up to 60% off higher totals.  And free shipping, to boot.  So you need to watch their catalogs and e-mails to find these deals, which usually don't last long.

They're a good company.  They rarely make mistakes, and if they do, they will fix it immediately with profuse apologies.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

Actually, I am going to do something that is very rare for me.  Admit I was wrong.  I just checked their new site and am liking it.  I hadn't checked it since they scrrewed up my last order a couple of weeks ago and wasn't aware of the extensive remake...I'll get back to you on a final verdict but their search engine does seem to be better than the one that they used to run off of their vintage Commodore 64 prior to the upgrade...

Thanks for the heads up, it is about time they did away with that old site, what a nightmare to find things on.

Yes...it blew very hard...

They may be on par w/ Sprue Bros now if they follow up w/ service and lower their prices a bit...

I didn't spend much time on the site, but I did notice massive improvement to the search engine.

I have always called in my orders from them, mostly straight out of the flyer. Usually, I don't NEED anything...until I see it!

Agreed...pretty new front page, and I can't fault Squadron on customer service. Last week they offered a 24%, one day discount. I ordered a couple items and went thru checkout only to realize that there had been no way to enter my Customer Loyalty Code.

So I called, and the CSR on the phone assured me it was taken care of, and sure enuf, two days later there was a message crediting my card with the Loyal discount. Wow!

Squadron has taught me that the best way to search them is to save flyers so I can use part #'s. They have also taught me that while I should search around to get the best price, they're going to give me opportunities to save big if I'm ready.

I think it's much better than it was. Definatly easier to find things. Would like the pics to be a little bigger though.

I guess that I am the only one who thinks there is too much bling there. I prefer the old site where more items loaded on a sigle page with less distractions. Still they were nowhere near as good as Great Models old site but...

Ditto I thought the old format was fine and I liked the decal profile section which now seems to be missing.  I must say that since I discovered Sprue Brothers and their huge inventory of Ultracast, Quickboost and the like, coupled with good prices and lightning fast delivery, I really have no need to use them anymore.  I think they're still on the expensive side. I suppose someone has to pay for the monthly cataogs eh? Just my 2 cents

I spent a good hour and half  (at a doc office while waiting for SWMBO) searching and looking through their site.  I still do not like the search but it is better than what it was.

I ended up placing a pretty large order.  It is not until after the fact that I realized the check out screen is not https!

Not happy about that but oh well it is done.

Yeah, I'm not feeling it so much anymore either...I miss the NEW MAGAZINES section and although the search engine is better the rest of the site is somewhat confusing...based on what's been going on with "sites" lately there must be a real need for technical engineers that know what the @!$#%$ their doing in designing user-friendly web-pages...

Very nice selection of model kits. I can see the web shop is also stocked up with PEs. Price wise not too shabby.

Me 3,

I don't care for the new search, you can't scroll up or down by scale like you used to, and it doesn't

have the mm equlvilent where applicaple like the old one. Still like the flyer and discounts, I wonder why they don't have 1/100-15mm stuff like Zevzda etc....Wish they did know that I'm into wargamming again after 30yrs!!!!!

I called and was told that the new check out is indeed HTTPS.  They now  use Volusion SSL.  Work in progress is my guess.  I will continue to use them but will use caution until their new site is tried and tested.  Only time will tell.

Thanks- never heard of that, and I don't want to be the first to test it.  Be careful out there, guys... meanwhile, I will phone in my orders.
