It might be as simple as drawing the diamond pattern on the color coat with a sharp pencil. In that scale, it would be difficult to consistently replicate the texture, but, it may be enough to suggest the texture and fool the viewer. When you consider the limited viewing access, might save you a lot of work. If you are dead set on the texture, try rubbing foil over plastic window screen and attaching that to the walls of the interior.

Have you flown a Ford lately?

You might get more responses from the aircraft forum.  While I am sure some of the aircraft folks also read this forum, many do not.  Your best bet with questions on a particular genre is to ask in the forum for that genre.

does anyone know of a way to replicate the diamond quilted insulation found in a lot of military aircraft. I'm building a 1/48 C-54 from an execuform DC-4 kit, my dad was an ADR In the navy and worked on many C-54s and was also a cargo master on them. My model will represent one of his planes, the problem Im having Is trying to replicate the quilted insulation inside, I plan on opening all the doors so I want it to look right Inside. any ideas would be greatly apreciated, thanks!
