Aaaah, motorcycles. I built a few of those in the '70's. There are, however, two '70's motorcycle kits I remember seeing in hobby shops back then that I never built, but boy, they were great looking! Both were custom choppers (remember those with the long, STTTRRRETTTCHED out front forks?); one I believe was called "Midnight Rider;" the second a three-wheeler called "Evil Iron." I think Revell put them out; if I ever see one at a model contest vendor or hobby shop, I just might get it and build it! You might want to keep an eye out for them, too, Wingman_kz!

Blackwolfscd, you brought me some luck. Not being familiar with the Z400FX, I did a Google search, and wonder of wonders my search returned several links to motorcycle modelers and sites. I thought that was a little strange because after all the searches I have done on KZ1000s, I can't remember ever turning up a kit for one or a modelers site. Evidently there were a bunch of kits made for these bikes back in the day. I appreciate the offer on the kit and the price is certainly fair but it wasn't what I was looking for. I didn't find the exact model of a 1000 that I was looking for either but now I know that they were made. Hopefully one will turn up...

JChurch...Madd Dawg, I did find something for you. Here's a link to the site. There was a stock XS650 listed as well as one with a sidecar. They weren't cheap but they were there and for sale. I have a '77 LTD1000 that I rebuilt myself. I think it's the fifth one I've had over the last several years. I hope the link works, I haven't tried this here before...

Lawrence... Thanks for the welcome and the info. This place really has taken off hasn't it? And it's easy to see why. I do enjoy the magazine and will probably subscribe in the near future. I like combining computing and modeling. The net is a great resource. Throw in a little photography and it makes a great combination. Select a kit, do some research and build it, talk to your new found friends about it, take some pics and post them. It works out great.

As a suggestion, it might be a good idea to put some 'links' the Scale Auto website somewhere on the FSM site. There are some great articles on there re: techniques and tips. Clearly they can complement lots of things going on at the FSM site.

Unfortunately, it is not sleep that is sacrificed for time spent in the forums. In my case it's actual model building time that gets set aside. Oh well, at least the time is still spent on the general hobby...

Glad you're enjoying the magazine; we try to give each issue something special. Scale Auto is right down the hall from us, and I think they do a great job. They run plenty of good articles that can be applied very well to non-car modeling.

Welcome back to modeling, i take it you've been away?

Anyhoo, I have a 1/15 Monogram Kawasaki Z400FX up for grabs. It's still sealed, a bit of the cello is gone and there's a bit of shrink/crush damage to the box, but not too bad. A bit dusty as well... It's a collectible kit, but I'm only askin' $15 US for it. I've been trying to find a good home for this baby for a while now. I just can't get into bikes! LOL
