If you are airbrushing, putting on a very thin coat of gloss at high pressure will create a semi-gloss effect. Likewise, a very wet coat of matt paint at lower pressure makes it glossier than normal, giving you a semi-mat appearance.

i too agree with the semi gloss. i will use it on 1/35 amphibs too.

the doog Use Model Master acrylic Semi-Gloss. That's gentle and easy to build up to a level of sheen that you want. Do NOT use "Future"---that is extremely shiny and will look unnatural, guaranteed.

Future will be too glossy. I think Future can be mixed with Tamiya clear flat for a custom sheen? But MM is the way to go.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Future would be VERY glossy, probably a good satin finish like Vallejo acrylic Satin might do
Thanks Don, now I just need to decide on the look I want.
How much sheen do you want? If you want it really glossy, like a custom show car, Future or Glosscoat will do it. If you want a semi-matt, that is a bit harder. If you are good at airbrush work, you can put on a very thin glosscoat. Else, you can use Polyurethane, which comes in semi-matt in several brands. To airbrush Polyurethane thin quite a bit. Semi-matt polyurethane does come in rattle cans. It would be nice to get a decent semi-matt clearcoat in a hobby paint, but there is none I would recommend.
I wanted to put a final coat on my USS Cole build to give it a little more of a sheen. Should I use Future or some other spray gloss product?
