Posted by tempestjohnny on Friday, January 24, 2014 1:18 PM

We always have the question if how many in our stash.  My question is how many are built on display.  I am sorry to say that I only have

16  48th scale with 4 more just about done

16   72nd scale

All aircraft

And 1 lonely car kit built

This make a change from the stash question.

Well, since I got back into the hobby in 2005 I have the following.

5 1/35th armour, still waiting for Dio's.

17 1/72nd aircraft.

2 72nd Sci Fi.

Then the ones I managed to save when I stopped building for a bit.

2 35th armour

1 72nd aircraft

3 Sci Fi of various scales.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3

I have on display my first model from 1965, and my newest 6 models.

I changed my focus a couple of times in between, quit table topping with my hundreds of tanks, had two plastic squashing disasters happen, and a couple of years ago just got rid of all the "off topic" aircraft like Spitfires and Thunderbolts, etc.

I had a lack of display space problem right up until I met Anne,,,,,,,,since then I have someone that actually enjoys the hobby with me, instead of one that hated the 3-400 models I had built and in boxes during my first marriage.

I got old and the stash got large just in time for me to have a "free retirement" pastime.

I have limited space, so it's less than a dozen and a couple were built by Household-6.

I had a ton of 'em built before I left NY in late '06 to our current home, but none made the trip west - they all stayed behind (in good homes).

Since arriving here, the count currently stands at 14 completed.......

1/32 WWI aircraft - 4

1/48 WWI aircraft - 6

1/48 WWII aircraft - 2

1/72 armor - 1

1/12 motorcycles - 1

Know what you mean, Rex. My first wife didn't really seem to care about my hobbies, but I now have a wife who whole-heartedly supports it, with enthusiasm. She's a quilter and scrapbooker, so she knows the emotional, stress-relieving value of a good hobby. Sounds like you have a great woman on your hands.

Going back 20 years... I'd say too many to count. My best estimation would be about 100 or more - aircraft and car kits. Had to toss out quite a bit since due to car kits being old, dirty, & parts falling off from being stored in boxes in cellar. As of now, out of at least 30 model cars kits, I managed save 3 or 4.

Since I started in the forties, and never dropped out to pick it up again, no way I can count.  I have them scattered all over house, figure I have about 1/3 of ones I have built, but too lazy to count them.  Maybe around fifty on hand.

yes I could not even begin to count the scores that I built as a youngster and disposed of or the ten or so that I built while overseas and had to leave behind. Plus the dozen or more that I have built, were damaged somehow and had to be salvaged in the past 25 years since getting married...

Easily about 300 of all types, mostly armor, in 6 or 7 bookcases with added plank shelving to make more room, scattered between my own residence, my parents' house in Pa. and my fiancee's mom's house up in NY.

In short, way too many! I've recently started selling off my older ones on ebay.

I've got 10 total:

SM-62 Snark - I've forgotten what scale it is, but it was a quick, easy, & fun build - no cockpit, and all red paint!!

1/48 Tamiya He-162A-2 Salamander

1/48 Tamiya P-47D Bubbletop

1/48 Revell F-86D "Dennis The Menace"

1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18D Hornet

1/48 Hasegawa P-40E Warhawk

1/48 Hasegawa AV-8B Harrier II Plus

1/48 Revell Henschel Hs-129B-3 (at least, I think it was a Revell kit - I finished it over 10 years ago - the memory ain't what it used to be.....)

1/12 Tamiya Hayabusa Motorcycle

1/12 Tamiya Ninja Motorcycle

I would have about another 10 up there, except my ex-wife decided to take out her frustrations on them. That is recounted in another thread.......

About 75 built. 200 un built.

I'm running into the problem of where to display once I'm done.

Display space is running into competition from my other collecting interest.

Toys and Games from pre 1970ish.

Display space accounts for why there are so many small scale kits out there.  Big kits get all the press, but some of us are forced into tiny stuff if we don't want to just pitch the builds afterwards :-(

30 Anime (robots, vehicles) 7 Sci-Fi (non-Japanese) 1 Realspace 21 Aircraft 10 Armor 5 Ship, all subs 2 figures I am basically out of display space, so the next model I finish will displace some of the non-models in the cabinet (i.e. pre-builts, action figures, etc.)

I have over 500 on display  now.  I've possibly built over a thousand in my 50 years of modeling.  I build over 30 a year right now. Even when I was working full time, I did 3 a month. And yes, I am married, happily.  It's just what I do.  There are about 2,000 in the collection.. Stash is not what I call it.

I have roughly 35 1/35 AFVs on display, another 20 or so not quite ready for display, either almost finished or about to be dis-assembled for parts. I wouldn't even try to guess how many I've built as an adult, but as a kid I could figure roughly one a week for 15 years, mostly cars and those 50-cent Aurora 1/48 planes.

I have about 15 1/76 scale armour models and about 8 1/72 aircraft, 4 1/48 aircraft and one 1/48 Aurora armour (JSIII). I will soon need a new display case or two because I'm getting into the larger scale kits in my stash.

54 as of 1-31-14, But I do  enjoy opening up the bi-fold doors of the closet in my model room while working on my latest project. In my stash? 125 yet to build, Maybe I should take off the price tags? 1/24 to 1/48th all WWII, mostly fighters. 25 P-47's  C's thru N's. All I need is time and glue!

3, a 1/48 Tamiya P-51, a 1/350 of the USS Cole, and a 1/350 of the USS Bunker Hill.

I'm military though, so I get to start my collection over every 3-4 years.
