Debonding works!
Posted by Don Stauffer on Saturday, March 8, 2014 9:55 AM

I am building a ship, a WW2 heavy cruiser. I bought a PE set for it, and was working on a searchlight tower.  The tower is really fine but a bit flimsy.  I had to glue a couple of searchlight emplacements on  shelves on the tower.  After I glued the first one on, I found I had glued it to the wrong shelf, and the emplacements were not identical!  I thought removing it would be almost impossible.  But, I remembered I had gotten a little bottle of CA debonder a couple of years ago when I had ordered a couple of bottles of a new CA brand (they included the debonder free as a good will gesture).  Fed the debonder into all the seams around the emplacment and took an X-acto blade into the seam and began gently prying- sure enough, it came off!  The stuff works!

Sure does. Can't have superglue without debonder is my motto! I put some in a steel paint pallet so its ready to go while I'm super-glueing.

Lacquer thinner will dissolve it too, specially on your fingers!

Finger nail polish remover, aka acetone, works as well. If you buy from the cosmetic department, make sure you get the one that really has acetone in it. Some use a different formula because of the odor.
