They used to chuck in the full catalog for free if you placed an order towards the end of the year when they were getting rid of them to make space for the next year's issue. I don't know when they stopped producing the full magazine, but the last one I see is a 2006.

I've received monthly flyers (Which is what we are discussing here, not their full catalog) for at least three decades without being charged, and going as much as a year without ordering from them. There is NOTHING in the latest example that warrants paying for the damned thing whatsoever.

Mike S.

So now Squadron is charging a magazine subscription rate of $15 for the "privilege" of receiving the sales flyers, so that I can pay their inflated prices and have half my order out of stock upon shipment? Yet another reason why I buy from Sprue Brothers, Hobbylinc etc instead.

They've always "charged" for the subscription, but it was normally complimentary if you purchased from them. The latest annual catalog I have is the 2006 one with a cover price of $5. The monthly flyers (the old style paper ones) have a price of 50 cents.

Other than my initial subscription from them around 1988, I've probably not paid for the subscription since then.

No need to pay for the flyer. I get their emails with what's on sale and several times they have some really great prices. To be honest, I have never purchased from the flyer itself so I see no need for it. As far as trying to make a mag out of it, good try but I will stick to FSM.

One of the things I like about the squadron flyers is browsing and finding kits featured that I was not aware of.  Most hobby dealers web pages are fine if you know what you are looking for. If you want a specific kit, the search engines generally work fine.  But browsing just to see what is available, whether at Squadron or any of several other web sites I frequent, is much less satisfying.

I just received mine yesterday and it looks like they are trying to make a magazine out of it as well. Still wont be paying money for it though.

I agree with you on the flyer because I aint gonna buy into it  but as far as prices , customer service or shipping I havent really had an issue. I usually only buy when they've got a 25% or better sale though.
