                        I use three criteria to choose a kit: Subject, Desire and Money. Not necessarily in that order...

                        I'm new to aircraft and have built Revell, Monogram, Revell/Monogram, Hobbycraft, Hasagawa and Tamiya. My LHS only stocks Dragon armor, so once I go down that path I'll give them a try. Right now Tamiya rules for quality, their kits are simply sweet.

                        In order - Accurate Miniatures, Tamiya and HAsegawa (or Hasegawa and Tamiya???) for aircraft - throw in Monogram Pro modeler reboxes of Hasegawa kits for measure...

                        not a big armor person buy DML has recently caught my fancy and I am awaiting the AFV Duster to try them out...

                        The manufacturer isn't as important to me as the subject. Which means that I am picking up more and more Eastern European produced kits. Granted the detail isn't always the greatest and completing one involves a lot more work, but I'm not going to hold my breath in hopes Tamigawa will produce a 1/72 PT19, Martin Baltimore, Lockheed Orion or any WW l aircraft other than a Camel or an SE5 or Fokker D-7.

                        Plus IMHO Tamaigawa kits tend to be way overpriced.

                        Generally, Dragon has been issuing kits of the specific subject I am looking for at the time. However, Academy has gained an edge over Tamiya and Italeri regarding WWII armor in detail and quality.

                        I think I have only ever bought one Tamiya kit, and that was 18 years ago.

                        Since I got back into modelling last year the bulk of my purchases have been Revell Germany:

                        He177
                        Fw190
                        Ar555

                        all in 1/72

                        with a couple of reboxed Dragon kits, one from Italeri, Me262, and one from Revell Fw190D.

                        I keep looking at the Tamiya kits in my LHS, but can never bring myself to spend the extra £6, or $11 over the equivaent Revell kit.

                        I haven't bought that much Tamiya stuff. Up till now anyways. Before, the kits I built were made by several manufacturers, and Tamiya being most expensive was thus most likel to be avoided by me :)
                        Lately it's pretty much all around with a majority going to Trumpeter.

                        Is this the F-16C kit from academy? I was given that kit for christmas and had the same problem... the seat and canopy issue frustrated me to no end... It still isn't built and i have no plans to finish it. Though, this is the first real problem i've gotten from one of their kits and i still like academy... Big Smile [:D]

                        Tamiya, although I'm building a lot of Dragon armour recently. I like Hasegawa 1/48th scale WW II aircrafts. Academy 1/72nd isn't bad. I think Trumpeter is way overrated.

                        Its too much an impact on my wallet to build too much Tamiya. Their kits are expensive around here. for 1/35 I find myself looking at DML or Italeri, etc. In small scale (72) I must say Airfix Revell, hasegawa, and Dragon make good models.

                        The brand I like to build from the most would have to be Tamyia. Next would be Hasegawa, Accurate Miniatures then Revell/Monogram. I haven't tried an Academy, Eduard or Trumpter kit yet. Though I want to someday.

                        For when I was building Armor it was Tamyia and Dragon. If and when I get back into doing armor again it will most likely be Dragon once I master link to link tracks. I also want to do some of the Academy kits. I will also give Trumpter and AFV a try sometime to.

                        Well you saved about $20 on indy tracks, $10 on pe grilles and perhaps another $15-20 on the Dragon kit versus Tamiya. Add that up and you saved a great deal of money. This is what I mean when I say that Dragon gives more value. That's why Dragon is getting the bulk of my money these days. Just MHO.

                        I like quality but, it is not the driving force for me. I go for the subject, mostly. I do find myself looking over the catalog to see if Tamiya has the subject. Detail can be scratch built or AM if it is not present in a kit. I do see many companies trying to give us what we want then others are retreading the same old things year in and year out. Wake up industry. Maybe even the management should move offshore, I won't mention a name!

                        I really like Revell's latest small scale armor kits, but I'm not so keen on their aircraft kits. There I really like Trumpeter, Hasegawa, Roden, Toko, and to some extent, Heller and Italeri. For cars, I like Tamiya best, followed by Fujimi and Protar.

                        I prefer the highest quality kit of the subject I am interested in.
                        Lately that has been Trumpeter, Tamiya and AFV Club. So picking one kit in the poll is not possible.

                        i choose not to vote because although i build revell i do not particularly care for the revell kits. when it is the only game in town preference is not a factor. thanks to the internet and some other factors revell is no longer the only game in town and i will be trying the other mfg's very soon.

                        Probably Revell/Monogram... there's something about an American kit that I like.

                        Also, it's a lot easier to afford, and you learn more by building a slightly screwy kit! Tongue [:P]

                        For armor I prefer Tamyia kits but will use others if I am after a subject that Tamyia does not have a kit for. I usually use verlinden kits for fiqures.
