Hey guys it's me again,
After a 2-month modelling hiatus caused by a lot of stress I had lately I'm finally back at the bench! I realized now more than ever before how small the free space on my quite large bench (a 2m x 60cm desk) I actually had for modelling. Most of the space was occupied by tools, my toolbox and paint jars. I decided to put an end to this problem and this is what I came up with:
I have plenty of room in all those drawers to store all my modelling stuff quite easily.
From top to bottom:
The first drawer holds all my tools:
The second one contains my paints:
The first 3 rows are RLM colors, the next 2 are USAAF/USN colors, followed by a row of RAF/Japanese aircraft colors. Next up are the paints I use for armor, 2 rows of generic colors and the last one for miscellanious colors (mostly for modern aircraft) To the right are a bunch of Tamiya colors I got to add to my Gunze paint lineup (mostly paints that work better for certain things or that simply aren't available in Gunze's paint range)
The drawer didn't have any rails in it to keep the jars from sliding around, so I simply bought some cheap wood profiles (1cm x 1cm) to build one myself. They are glued in place using white glue:
Next up is the drawer for all my weathering stuff as well as my scratchbuilding supplies:
the next 2 have all my aircraft AM goodies in them:
Resin:
Only the far right stuff is 1/48, the rest is 1/32.
PE, seatbelts, decals and masks:
The bottom drawer contains my small collection of Armor accessories:
It's not much because I usually only add a metal gun barrel and sometimes a set of Friuls to my armor builds. There are exceptions of course (in this case a Pz.IV I'm slowly working on atm)
I also got me two shelves to store my stash in (instead of stacking the boxes on the floor):
Armor stash:
From top to bottom: Modern vehicles/ Russian WW2, British/American WW2, Tiger/King TIger/Panther
German TDs/light tanks/Halftracks, Pz.III/Pz.IV, Artillery/Field guns (and Eduard's Hetzer 'cause it didn't fit anywhere else )
Aircraft stash:
1/48 Jets/Dual Combos, 1/48 Allied WW2, 1/48 Allied/German WW2
1/48 German WW2, 1/32 Allied WW2, 1/32 German/Japanese WW2
My 1/32 multi-engined aircraft are on top of the armor and aircraft stashs due to their boxes being so huge...
I was going to post a pic of the actual bench too, but my camera messed the file up, so that one has to wait untill I'm back home from my 2-week trip...
My stash is by far not as big as the ones most uf you guys have, but It's still growing a bit and I'm quite happy with it myself (I actually have more 1/48 aircraft and a LOT more 1/32 aircraft kits than my LHS )
I hope you like it!
Cheers, Clemens
