Desk Lamp

I use an old broken magnifier lamp with a incandescent 40w bulb and a reflector made from aluminium foil. I don't have any problem from heat although I'd love to update it. I like the light from incandescent rather from fluorescent though.

I use a ring light magnifier/lamp.  Fluorescents put out a lot less heat for the amount of light than do incandescents.  I find find modern fluorescents okay on color.  The lamp is quite positionable too, with adjustment clamps at several points. I find this important when painting.

I put an LED bulb in my regular swing-arm reading lamp.

I have a couple of standard swing arm reading lamps and use daylight builds. They do give off a bit of heat but I like the light they give out.

I use a 4ft shop light that hangs above my bench on chains. It uses the 4ft fluorescent tubes in the 6500k wavelength to get natural lighting.  Really bright.

Recently at Target I picked up an LED desk lamp for $10 or $15. It's one of the flexible type and the LED in it is pretty bright. Only downside is it casts a pretty small and focused cone of light....probably a foot and a  half in diameter at optimum modeling range, about a foot above the work.

Ditto on the 4ft. shop light with 6500k bulbs.  Have 2 swing lights (1 on each side) with LEDs in case I need to do up-close work.  One has the magnifier and the other doesn't.

I used to use a high intensity light that ran on car light bulb.  I now use a clamp on

lED lamp and have a shop light hanging above my work area.

What is a Ott light?  I never heard of it.

Had one for years and at work too.  There's nothing wrong with th th them attt al.

Me use flaming torch.  Wife hold when me work.   Ugh.

I'd love a good lamp that pumps out the BTUs!  My workbench is in the basement where it's pretty chilly all year 'round.  Having a lamp down there would not only give me better lighting, but it would also help keep me alive.

I have two of these lamps .I love them .. They also have natural light .. No heat . Uses very little energy ..

I use a Swing Arm Architect's Lamp I got from Amazon, and I put a 60 watt size LED bulb in it.  It clamps to my workbench and is quite sturdy.

This one is really well made and cost $40.  There are similar lamps available for less, but they use less metal and are flimsy.  Works very well, and the LED bulb does not heat up and may very well outlast me.

We've started replacing all our household lighting with LEDs (I won't miss CFLs). For my workspace, I anticipate using three 60w (equivalent) daylight balanced LEDs in the overhead fixture and a couple of task lights. With LEDs available, is there still any benefit to something like an OTT light, with a fluorescent tube?

i have 2 6' florescent bulbs over each work station plus 1-2 goose-neck lamps. i use 100w incandescent space heaters (ie light bulbs) because i like the heat as i am in the bunker and it can get cool there, even in the summer. i also have 3 3 bulb fixtures i can move around for more lights. as i have 7 work stations down there, when i turn everything on it looks like a supernova.

I use a small Ott lite and what is probably the ugliest floor lamp I have ever seen. It's a 20 dollar gooseneck floor lamp with a flexible shaft that I can point down towards the desk.
