Less than a week left to join up before I draw names on Thanksgiving(Thursday 26th.) We have a good group already, but the more the merrier, especially this time of year! Lets spread some holiday cheer and put some more models under the trees this Christmas.

We do apologize if the multiple threads seem confusing (or probably even annoying for some) but we really wanted to get the word out to EVERYONE. Me and BrandonK we talking and we admited that we both never really explore the boards; we normally just stick to the Aircraft and GB boards. Come to find out, we are missing so much EXTRAORDINARY work because we stay in our aircraft bubble. And I am sure there are armor builders, sci-fi builders, ect that do the same thing.

And I think thats one of the great things about this GB. Say for instance I happen to draw a ship builder as my recipient, I'm gonna do some research and looking around to make sure I don't get them some crap kit. Then I'll watch them build the kit, and who knows. I might end up getting so caught up and interested in his ship build, that I decide I want to break out of my aircraft shell and try building a U-boat or carrier or something.

I responded to the other thread, but I'd like to participate.  This has always been a fun GB.

I'm in guys, I just need to look through my wish list for something reasonable.

Edit. I promissed myself I would cut back on the GB's this next year, HA! yeah right!

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

When I first heard of this, it sounded fun. Last year, I was looking forward to it with hopes it happen again. To my disappointment, it never happened.

Now that I see your desire to restart it, I only have one thing to say... Oh Hell Yeah!! I'm in.

PM sent...

This really is fun. I don't know about you guys, but I have more fun and joy out of building a kit that someone got me as a gift than I do out of a kit I get myslef. And being able to give sime guidelins as to what you would like, its bound to be something that interests you to a degree.

So spread the Christmas spirit this year and be someone's secret Santa. I mean, who DOESN'T want one more gift under the tree this year?

This really sounds like a super fun idea and would mix things up a bit with regard to GB's where you pick your exact kit. This way you get something along the lines you want but you're not quite sure what it will be. Someone else gets one from you along the lines of what they want and no one knows who gave who what. We build what we get and have a great time doing it.

This is one of the best ideas I've seen come along in some time.

Let's all get on board and celebrate the spirit of Xmas and the  unity this group of builders shows each other when someone is down.

Sign up for the build, let us know a general idea of the type of kit and scale you would like and we'll match you up, secretly, to someone else who will get you something along those lines, but you don't know what.

Why not?

I'll start: I'm thinking about something post WWII in 1/48 scale aircraft. That should be close enough. I'll see what I get.

Who's next?

2015-2016 Secret Santa Group Build *** LESS THAN A WEEK LEFT TO SIGN UP!***

Hello all! I would like to announce the 2015-2016 FSM Secret Santa GB! We had one a couple years back, and while it kind of petered off after a while, it was still alot of fun. This year, your host will be yours truly, and considering how work sometimes keeps me off of here for a few days at a time, your co-host will be Mr. BrandonK.

The set up is pretty simple. If you want to participate, simply PM me:

1. General guidelines of what you would like. Something like 1/35 WWII German armor, or 1/48 Jet aircraft, something along those lines. Lets try not to get too specific, cause that will just take the surprise out of it.

2. You real name and address, so your Santa knows exactly where to go to deliver your gift.

I will then, probably around mid-November, assign each of you giftee. And a date will also be set to send your gift out by to insure they reach their destination before Christmas. Because while it is the thought that counts, nobody likes having to wait till the 28th of December to receive a present.

While its your money and I can't tell you how to spend it, I believe a kit in the 15-30 USD range would be fitting. And while the kit does not need to be brand spanking new and still in shrink rap, if you decide to send something from your stash, you had better make DARN SURE it is 100% complete and undamaged.

There really aren't many rules other than that. The build period will naturally begin Christmas morning, and I am thinking an 8 or 9 month build time would be appropriate, ending sometime around August or September.

There will be a thread set up on the GB page before too long. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me or BrandonK.
