One of my current builds is a Trumpeter liberty ship (converted to post war generic tramp freighter). I had one of the cargo hatches disappear onto my wood floor. Searched, searched, searched, couldn't find it.

Finally decided after a week to scratchbuild a replacement. Got it glued in place, painted, ect. Glanced down at the floor, THERE'S THE STUPID HATCH IN PLAIN SIGHT!!!!!! Bang Head

I lost a photo-etch rudder-bar assembly that had taken me several hours to assemble and paint. Couldn't find it anywhere. Two days later I found it buried in the fur of our dog's head.

...or crawling aorund on your hands and knees with magnifying glasses and a flashlihght for hours.....Sad

LOL!! I thought I was the only one doing that. Just yesterday my usual 1-2 hour air brushing session turned into a 7 hour one! I accidentally dropped on the garage floor the tip of my Badger Renegade air brush. :rant:Anyone that owns one will know how tiny that part is.

After several hours of crawlig around with my optivisor and a flashlight I finally found the tip which had rolled about 3-4 feet under a metal cabinet that is about 1/4" off the concrete floor.

Neat idea. Sure beats emptying  the canister and rummaging thru the dust and dirt.

small part search and recovery

Hi everybody.

I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the ships forum since it involves the recovery of tiny parts that have flown across the room. All you need is any kind of vaccum cleaner, the solid 3 to 6 inch furniiture attachment and an old  nylon stocking or a pair of pantyhose. Put the stocking over the furiture attachment, secure it to the vaccum's hose with a rubber band and attach to the vaccum. turn it on and run the vaccum over the area  where you lost your missing part/parts. The vaccum will suck up all sorts of things and the nylon will keep anything from ending up in the vaccum itself.  Turn off the vaccum  and sort through the material on the nylon for your missing parts.

Have fun,

Doc
