Good Lord, Silver. Please spell out your posts completely. It makes it difficult to read your shortcuts as if you're texting on your phone. This is a forum not a phone chat. Just saying...Confused

I have had no trouble with decal setting solutions or solvents over Alclad, but I have had CA accelerator make a real mess of it.

Yes I had to apply Slvaset directly onto the red diagonal stripe and I used it sparingly so it snuggled the wrinkle down very well.

Thanks!it accepted the decals well but I was warned not to use Microset and Microsol.

I have used Sovaset which is very strong over the high shine Alclads without sealing them and had no problems at all. I just make certain to wait a minimum of a day or two to let it cure before decaling.

Philo

Awesome looking P-61!Beer

I have sprayed Alclad and masked with Post It small yellow notes an hour later with no lifting or damage to the finish. But I too try to leave it alone overnight just in case, specially when applying decals.

For additional information on Alclad, be sure to check out the Painting and Airbrushing forum.  Alclad is a frequent topic there.  The whole section of Tools, Technics, and References is a gem, but little-known area of the Fine Scale forums.

Treat it like any other paint.24 hours.Dry to the touch within 2 hrs.Not totally dry.Its chemical properties allow it to dry from the outside in.It takes time to complete a proper metal finish w/ all differential panels.

3 days. I prefer weeks, but one does get impatient. Time is the one free thing in life to spend.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Thanks!i let it dry overnight to be safe!

That is the amount of dry time I give Alclad when I spray it.

Chromed my 61 with Alclad and I wonder how long it should cure before it is ok to handle without leaving fingerprints?
