Finally, finally, finally!!! I've been waiting for this one for a few years now. Looked and looked and only one or two to be found on Ebay for stupid money. Got an email for Hobbylink the other day with some availability. Snapped it up. Man, I am over the moon to have this one finally. In my opinion it's the best looking Lambo ever made. Huge score.

Ohhhhhh that's awesome Brandon! Congrads! Nothing like finally finding something you've been looking for years at a decent price.

Cool! As Gammy just said, it's always great fun to get a long-wanted kit. Something about the vintage ones that are even more special, to me, anyway.

Just came in the mail today. An early purchase, for what I am hoping will be a 2023 F1 Group build since I missed this year.

Presuming this is a nice at the 1979 version, I think you're going to love this kit.

Can't pass up a Sprue Brothers sale.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Yea 78 season I believe. Last American to win a championship, with a Ford mtoor no less.. It was this or the Mclaren Mp4? Mp5? The last Honda engine to win prior to Verstappen. Maybe that will be my 2024 GB car!

That Tamiya Lotus is what got me looking at F1 models.  It is a beautiful design with an equally beautiful paint scheme.

Very nice scores from Sprue Brothers Steve! Gotta love the Thud, and the Merk is nice too!

So it’s been a bit since I posted an update on latest acquisitions…. I’ve been nickel and diming it here and there, plus a couple of lucky finds…

For my 1/48 aircraft I stumbled upon this F-5F the other day at a local shop for a great price (far lower than any of the eBay scalpers were asking), so I snatched it up ASAP.

then at IPMS last week, a fellow chapter member was selling off this kit for cheap, and who am I to say no to a bargain. I also successfully haggled for a lower price on this Microscale decal set off the E, since I didn’t care for the kit markings…

Then I  picked up this Verlinden transfer set to get the markings I want for a future project, as again I didn’t want the kit decals. Alongside are some F-86D decals obtained in trade for a different project of mine. Thanks John Eaton for answering my “looking for” plea.

a second thank you to him for  graciously sweetening the deal by throwing in this P-40 that he apparently bought in bulk

and my ground forces were not neglected either…. firstly with the recent announcement that Archer was closing up shop, I decided to pick up some of their marking sets I need for few different projects. It’s now or never…

finally, at IPMS I had won a couple of gift certificates to Andy’s Hobby HQ from monthly chapter contests. Yesterday I went and came home with this baby… along with some mundane supplies that are really not worth taking a photo of but used up the rest of my certificates amount.

Now to build some of these…

A box dropped today at my office:

The Madox-01 is from "Metalskin Panic", which is one of my favorite Japanese original video animation (OVA) releases.  The Sanger antipodal bomber feeds my Luftwaffe 1946 needs, while the kit of the Japanese building is none other than the famous Radio Kaikan Building in Akihabara, Tokyo - nerd (otaku) central of Japan.  The German observation balloon is for a more responsible friend who nevertheless has equally esoteric tastes in models.

Great additons guys!

SP: Sad to see Archer go. I'm intending on picking up a load of stuff this weekend.

G: You always have cool stuff. Love the Madox-1, don't know anything about the OVA but that's a cool looking mech.

Well, there are a bunch of castle and temple kits that are readily available, as well as Tokyo Tower and its successor Tokyo Skytree.  And I think the "Geocraper" kits represent small chunks of Japanese cities.  The Radio Kaikan Building is unique as it is so far the only nerd culture meme subject.  Although Tokyo Tower will be forever associated with the Japanese monster movies.

Gamera,

Metal Skin Panic is a classcal Japanese mecha-anime story:

Boy (Koji) meets girl.  Girl goes abroad to college.  Boy meets mecha (which literally falls into his posession).  Girl returns and wants to meet at a high rise buiding.  Boy goes on joy ride in said mecha, inadvertently destroying a bath house, a street punk's car, and a convenience store.  Meanwhile, the army thinks a terrorist has stolen the Madox suit, so an overzealous Lt Kilgore takes to the streets of Tokyo in the Tarantula, a mini one-man tank that can climb stairs(!).  The lieutanant has a score to settle with the Madox, which bested him in an eariler demonstration fight, so he is only interested in destroying the suit.  In hot pursuit of Lt Kilgore and the Madox, Ellie (the development pilot of the Madox) takes the protoype suit Hammerhead in the hopes of stopping the two and averting massive civillian casualties.  Ellie finds the Madox first, but the lieutenant has ordered his men to open fire, damaging the Hammerhead.  It's now up to the Madox and Koji to defeat Kilgore in a high rise denoument.  Will Koji survive?  Can he defeat Kilgore and the Tarantula?  Will he make it out of his predicament so that he can meet his girl on time?

Watch the video.  It's worth it.  Silly 1980s mecha-action at its finest.

Yeah, I was going to ask you bout the Nautilus. It says some outrageous speed under water and another outrageous speed surface. The range is in lightyear's Confused. So question G, if it stays on the water and underwater then what's the deal with the lightyear distances? Does it go in space? And if so, why water?
