@SS,

That sure is a lot of PE and resin, those 109's will look amazing. And that Panther kit looks quite good.

@Cliff,

I'm sure you'll make it look like a quality build when you're done!

@John,

I really wish Bandai would produce that Y-Wing in 1/48 scale. Looks like such a nice kit.

I wish they would 1/48 of all of them.

Stopped at 2 different LHS and got these, the Y-wing I got with a 40% off coupon and some money I found in a jacket of mine,  Ya hoo.  Wasn't sure what the 1/72 scale y-wing would be like, but it's fantastic,   I'll post sprue pictures if anyone wants.

the EA-18g  for a 1/144 is fantastic, great engraved lines and great looking detail parts.

John

I'd love to see some pics of the Y-Wing.  I built the old MPC one, so a size comparison would be great.  The Y-wing is my favorite fighter and I do plan on getting one of the Bandai kits.

I'll have to pull the sprue's out and picture them, not sure when I'll start this one.

How do they create the tension in the torsion bars.

I personally don't worry as when i attach it to the base, i can just glue down any wheels that have dropped into a hole or off a curd. I just like the idea that i can fit them and keep them movable.

They work exactly like the Dragon ones: Keyed plastic torsion bars that twist under load and spring back.

The torsions bars being a lot shorter due to the hull width probably helps a lot too.

Maybe the Tasca suspension just has thicker bars or their plastic is better suited for that kind of thing.

It's not an amazingly springy suspension, but it does work when you roll the model over an uneven surface...

Heard back from club pres., didn't get either of the jeep/trailers, so added in an Airfix 1/24 Spit.  Had to get on Bish's bad side somehow, LOL.

Pics of all on Friday.

Oh no, picked up the Mustang, Hurricane, Stuka, and 109 as well, all in 1/24.  For the price to club members, couldn't pass them up.

So, only the one you don't care for, and figure the Hurricane offsets the un-mentionableBig SmileEmbarrassed

Me lady won't be happy when she gets back from Europe next week, I've managed to add a dozen kits to the pile in the last 2 1/2 weeks.......once she gets back and we move in together, I can already hear the lyrics of "I Fought the Law and the Law Won"

Nope, half of it is in her storage unit right now, and we'll end up in either apt or house depending on what we find for rental, and she'll be helping me get out of where I'm at now.  Besides that, she knows that is one of my hobbies, and kind of goes along with it, at least for now.

BTW, she is my ex, from 35 years ago......knows me well, but still wants me back, good Lord only knows why.

I just ordered this beauty:

It's way too nice of a kit to resist. Probably the ultimate Panther kit.

It comes with a full interior, working suspension and tracks and heaps of options straight out of the box.

Yeah, both the upper hull and the turret are clear parts. I'm not a huge fan of those see-through tanks though, so I'll have to figure out another way to display the interior...

I'm probably going to diplay it as if it was sitting in an assembly line or a repair shop.

I just don't like the whole "museum exhibit" look on my tank models.

I have heard good things about their Tigers but they will have to go a long way to beat Dragons Pantehr kits. I hope they bring out a more basic kit, i am not a huge fan of these complete interiours or working suspensions, but be interesting to see how it builds up.

The cargo kit is to have something for the Gama Goat I picked up from HL

This one came as a two-fer, with WE PE for at least one, both are partial starts.   Thought it was the WWII, not the more modern ski jump incarciration.....

And the five 1/24 Airfix's.....

This was part of a members hoard that he decided to donate to the club to sell to members or at a swap meet later this year.  The prices were totally outragous....$10 for both carriers, $10-15 each for the 1/24's.  Dropped a $100 total.

My lady will be bent when she sees all this added to what is already floating around.

Yeah but they drop $100 for cloths and shoes without batting an eye. Their excuse, they were them therefore needed. I on the other hand go to second hand stores and get what I need, some of them are brand new for a fraction of the price. Pft Huh?

More over how many kits rather that the cost.  We won't get into where they are going to be displayed since we don't know what or how big a place we will have, or the length of time I have vs. number in the stash.  Will die with a stash left over, so I guess I'll winBig Smile

I tend to just have pocket t-shirts and cargo work pants, don't even have a sport coat any more, or really any dress shirts.

Yeah, I have one suit for funerals and weddings. All my other stuff is all relaxing stuff. Some pull overs and jeans for when I go back to work.

Last wedding was mine 30 years ago, and only funeral would be where I'm guest of honor.

Yeah, I'll never get married again, but my 18 yo granddaughter might.

As far a funerals, I'm at the time of life where there could be a few, including mine at some point. Hopefully much later now that I have a new set of lungs.

The Dragon Ausf.G kits are very good, but from what I've seen the RF kit is just a bit better.

It seems to be on par with Dragon dimensionally and some details are a bit sharper (at the expense of more complexity ofc)

They also offer you a couple more little options such as a different upper glacis with the square periscope cut out instead of just the round one found in Dragon kits.

The interior is awesome and more detailed than a lot of resin interior sets I've seen

The working tracks are a pretty big deal for me. Friuls are 36€ here, Modelkasten tracks even more and working tracks are a must have on big tanks for me.

Also, Dragon's Panther hulls seem to be warped a lot in all the kits I've seen in person and RF uses a lower hull made out of flat plates and bulkheads.

If the Dragon kits were still 45€ like they used to be, they would be equal imo.

Alas, they cost the same as RF Panthers now, which means I won't buy any new ones from Dragon. (Says the guy with 4 Panther Gs and 2 Panther Fs Stick out tongue)

GH,

Very nice haul! I really like those 350th ships, and those bigger scale aircraft will be fun builds.

You know it's better to beg for forgivness, than to ask for permission. A 100 bucks for all that was a steal, she should applaud your thiftyness! lol

SS,

Nice score! I've been looking at this kit, and then Takom has brought out an Ausf.A with full interior. My problem is I'm more prolific in buy kits than I am with building them, so, I'm trying to resist!

I can't say i have noticed any warpage issues in Dragon Panthers, so far i've built an Ausf G, one with Pz IV turret and a Jagdpanther and have another 5 various Dragon Panthers in the stash. I like the Dragon Magic tracks, i don't quite see the deal about tracks that actually work. As long as i can get a good sag and realistic look, thats fine. I think people make a big deal about some of these things for no real reason.

I do know the Dragon kits build up very nicely, my only regret is that i bought PE sets for most of what i have before i had even built one. But the Dragon kits have got very expensive, i notice some new ones out at close to £80, so thats deffinetly going to be a factor. Fortunatly i have all the Ausf G's i want just need a D and early A. I just hope Rye Fields put all their skill into other vehicles, as much as i love German armour, there seems to be more Tiger and panther kits out there than there were real vehicles.

One of my Panther F kits is fine, the other one is warped a bit. Out of the 3 Gs I own, 2 are warped badly and one is straight enough to probably fix itself once you assemble the hull.

It's not unfixable, but it's annoying.

I'm not a fan of Magic Tracks at all. They almost always have ejector pin marks on every single track link, meaning you spend more time sanding them off than you would assembling workable tracks without them. They are still way better than the rubber band tracks Dragon now puts in all their kits... (another reason to buy RF over Dragon for me)
