Posts with no ability to reply
Posted by Don Stauffer on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 8:34 AM

I notice most posts have a reply button, but some do not.  Ordinarily, this is not  a problem- you can go to any post that has a reply, and your message still comes at the end of the thread.  However, if you want to post a reply that has no reply button, it is a lot harder to post a reply with a quote- you have to do cutting and pasting.

Why do some posts not have a reply button? I do not see any option on the reply window to include or omit the reply button.

When this happens to me, I find that for some reason I have been "signed off" while away, for no apparent reason.  I have to sign in anew, and then the reply button reappears.  Must be a glitch.

Like Chuck, usually it's because I've been timed out.

Some times my own posts take a while to go live.

I guess I did not explain fully enough.  In the instances I am talking about, there are some messages with reply buttons, and some without, in the same thread.  I can reply to some people's post, but not others.  If I were not logged in, I couldn't reply to any of them.

Don I noticed that with the larger signature lines like PJ's.

Like Bish said, if you refresh sometimes the reply button will return. I will refresh 2 or 3 times to get it back. Sometimes it doesn’t appear after all the work.

I've seen it more than a few times. I just reply to an older post on the thread. Unless of course it is the only post. Just another glitch in the new and improved forum setup.

i've had this same issue. while talking to TB on the phone, i'll pull up his posts/replies and get locked up. sometimes refreshing works, but most often after refresh i have to log back in and then it's all good.

can't we go back to the old way when asking or answering a question did what it did :)

I was looking at one of those threads today that had a post without a reply button.  I tried the refresh technique.  It worked, the post now had a reply button!  I have no idea why.

Yeah, Plastic Junkie just put up a thread of a beautiful blue angel F/A18D and his Sig is so large the reply button is off the page lol. No amount of refreshing has centered it yet.

PJ, good job on the build! It's beautiful and the illusion with the intakes is absolutely brilliant!

You may want to trim you sig down a bit lol. When you're the first post there's no way to reply lol.

Thanks Mike for the kind words and the heads up on the reply button. I have seen it too in other posts but the images are normal sized and the reply button returns.

Looks like several members have the same bug!

Oh! Now I see it! Your SIG now has room for expansion too! Thanks for not taking that harshly. In the other forums the Sigs usually resize themselves and no buttons are lost. Not sure why that doesnt happen here.
