""And then worst part is, I will still even with all this great paint still reach for some $.89 Delta creamcoat to avoid "wasting" the good stuff!""

I have a problem too.....

Although I have mass amount of high quality brushes and paints collected over the past few years when I had some extra cash, I will still used cheap or used tools and paints I have lying around in order to "save" the good stuff.  Then when a finish goes completly south, or I end up botching a build because the tool failed, I get all frustrated and want to quit.

New Years Resoltion #2, to purge all cheap, broken, worn hobby stuff from my premises so I am no longer tempted to "cut" corners.  No more brushes that had seen better days, no more paint that I bought 35 years ago and is more goo than pigment, and of coarse, replace that stupid worn, bent, airbrush tip with the new one I just got from Santa.

I don't have a problem with paints.  In fact, since I use Testors enamel, which has a short shelf life once open, I now plan on buying paint when I start building each kit, unless I know I have a bottle of something that has never been opened.

On the other hand, I certainly have way too many kits.  As I approach my Eightieth birthday, I realize I have far more kits than I have years left in which to build them.  Still, if a new kit comes out that I just have to have, from many mfgs who only do small runs and don't repop, I have to go out and buy it!

By all means, use the "good stuff."  Don't waste effort and money on that cheap Delta and other "craft" paints!  You won't regret it.

I have a lot of paint but I can't say I have too much.  I will admit that I did buy a few extra bottles of Model Master Enamels in FS and other colours that Testors has discontinued.  For the most part, I generally buy what I need and go from there.  The only colours that I tend to over buy are a few shades of grey (mostly 36495 and 36231) and flat black.

I think I'm addicted?

Got back modeling a few years ago when a friend got me a kit for christmas.

I have finally come to terms that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.

So other than stockpiling kits as my "side money" allows my biggest problem is paint, and other supplies, but mainly paint.

For some reason when it comes to paint i always feel I'm missing something, like I absolutely have to have every single Vallejo paint that they make...

Some times it's nearly debilitating, like I'm stricken with some sort of paralysis.

Today I saw a guy on Craig's list selling 900+ jars/rattle cans of Testors model master paints for $400 and I was very tempted!!

Had he said he would split it and sell me just the jars I'd have torn his arm off.

Something about having a giant paint rack stocked full of paints makes me feel complete in some wierd way...

I am constantly organizing/displaying all my paints and supplies for no one and to no one but myself.

It's maddening!

Is this normal amongst modelers?

And then worst part is, I will still even with all this great paint still reach for some $.89 Delta creamcoat to avoid "wasting" the good stuff!

Am I losing my mind?

I have no other areas of life where this type stuff is remotely a problem but with models and this hobby it's a HUGE problem!

I mean I smuggle paint in the house as if it were crack!!!
