Stikpusher 2017: Pass in Review
Posted by stikpusher on Saturday, January 20, 2018 5:41 PM

Well, it was not a very productive year for me in 2017. Only three completions. But that is three more completed than in 2016. So I guess in comparison that is a positive.  But I am still a long way from two primary modeling goals: 1) finish up a big portion of my sidelined builds, and 2) get up to an average of one completion per month...

So without further ado, here are my completions of 2017:

First up, a tribute build to my father, who passed away at the end of 2016, a weapon that he crewed on during his time in the Army, the M55 Quad .50 in 1/35 by Dragon

Next was an old build that had been sidelined for years due to the NMF refusing to cooperate... in the summer I knuckled down and finished it up, Monograms venerable 1/48 F-86F

And lastly, a quick build of Airfix’s mid 70’s vintage 1/48 Me-109F

Here’s to a more productive 2018....

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

You may not have finished many kits, but I followed each one, and they are all very well done.  The awards are testimony to your skill.

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Bish and Dwayne, thank you for your kind words. Better than the year before, but I do intend for the year ahead to be better.

Very nice builds Stick. And getting awards with them is a bonus Yes

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

But, its 3 less kits taking up space in the stash!  I’m really impressed with the aluminum finish on your F-86.

Thank you guys!

MC, yes, at least 2 of them did good enough. That always is good for a smile.

MM, three down and ??? to go... But my stash still keeps growing for some reason....

Greg, thanks. 1 is better than none, right?

Great subjects and nice builds!  I used to up to OrangeCon years back (I'm in San Diego - Ramona actually).  I have an OrangeCon plaque or two around somewhere ;)

Thanks,

Got them on my phone.

Those are all great. The gun is the only model of that not on a gun truck I have seen. Must be a palm sized thing.

I was at an Airshpw with my friend Airman Jim. We were looking at the radios in a Sabre. He is an expert at tube radios. He says to the Owner “ I could fix that set and get it working. ‘Course there’d be no one to receive”.

I think I prolly built two last year. Tough year.

If I could complete one with the same quality I'd consider it a good year. Nicely done Stik.

Nice work Stik. I only got two done last year and probably only one if you only count ones where the majority of work was done in 2017. As long as it's enjoyable time at the bench--that's what counts IMO.

All great looking models, Stik. Being an F-86 fan I really enjoyed seeing that build, and a very deserved award from IPMS. Well done, hopefully more will be done this year.

You da' man.

Keav, Orangecon is the first Saturday in October I believe. Always a good show put on by our club.

Bill, the Quad .50 is indeed a small model. Smaller than a Jeep. As far as your friend being able to fix that tube radio, Ill bet somebody out there could hear it, all depending upon the frequency range that it transmits on. The HF radios we had in our RATT rigs in LRS would pick up all sorts of crazy stuff across the frequency spectrum.

Patrick, Templar, and CB, thank you.

Stik,

You have quality over quantity on your side. Actually they are awesome builds and I wish I did such quality work. I really like your goal of completing sidelined models and trying for one a month completion ratio. I think I need to set those for myself.
