I don’t sweat the “must have” brush sizes. I have a variety of them and use them depending on what I need it for.
As I'm sure you already know the higher the number the smaller the brush like wire gages , but a 10/0 does seem to be slightly diffrent between manufactures. Years ago I would buy a 10/0 and I swear the thing had 2 hairs, now I have to look at all of them at the store to see which one is the smallest. I have several "10/0" in my brush stash and each one of them is diffrent. Some of them I re-gaged I.E. trimed myself.
However, like anything else, you get what you pay for.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

hypertex Brush sizes are non-standard among different brands and have no reference to physical dimensions. The type of brush also adds to confusion. A size 0 Round brush will be larger than a size 0 Spotter, etc.

Is this a funny question, or just in the category that Captain Obvious would answer?
I am looking for a small brush, (Really? sarcasm) what the frak is it with the numbers?
5/0 20/0 10/0?
i looked at 2 different 20/0 and here is where the confusion really got to me
One of the brissle lenghts was about 15mm long and 1 was 7mm long. So 20/0 isn't the lenght but "width" i guess.
Now many, many years ago a friend painted RPG figurines and i swear his brush was 1/10th of a birds eyelash in width. What number would his be?
He was able to paint eyes in the slit of a visor. His skill was and i hope still is insane.
I am just about ready to crazy glue a cat's wisker on a chopstick to use. What number would that be ?
Any help out there?
