12 days of christmas build anyone?
Posted by snapdragonxxx on Saturday, December 22, 2018 8:07 AM

Hi guys and gals!

I am active on a couple of forums including this one and a few years ago while recovering from battlefield injuries a member of a different forum challenged me to build a model over Christmas in 12 days from start to finish.

This became a regular thing with me and it's now called my 12 days of Christmas build.

This year I have decided to post the build on here too and if any other builders want to join in and do their own they are more than welcome. it's not a group build, though and there are few limitations.

The rules are:

you start at some point on December 25th and you have the 12 days of Christmas to do the build start to finish.

Any subject. it's open season, but I usually do 1/35 armour of some description so something that will be a good and honest challenge. Any add-ons and AM parts allowed.

Post progress in the usual place for the subject. There are no prizes or anything. It's a bit of Christmas fun.

It doesn't really matter if you go over the 12 day build time, but it shows that either you chose the wrong kit OR you didn't put enough effort in OR there's been too much disruption and drinking going on! :)

For those watching my 1/32 Zoukei-Mura K-45 Nick build in the aircraft section.... there will be some disruption!

So, come on! Drag those "Won't take long" kits out of the stash and join in!

This year, my build will be Trumpeter's 1/35 128mm K43 bzw.44 Kanone (Krupp) just out of the box with nothing else added apart from glue, paint and bad words!

I participate in the Secret Santa GB and will start on my gift immediately, usually that day or 2 days after (our wedding anniversary is the 26th so I BETTER not work on a kit on that day). I would be interested, however my time back home will be busy and really wouldn't be able to get to anything serious until the 1st. That would leave me with 4 days......that's doable.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

It's happening. I will be posting in the Armour Forum this evening once the family celebrations are over and I can crack on!

Sounds good to me.... I think that I’ll join you.....

if you don’t mind some company...

Not so hectic as the weekend madness. 12 days sounds perfect for a quick build.

I'll join, I have Tamiya's StuG IV (1975) from the SSGB so it's for this GB!

Would a group build badge be possible?

It's not a group build as such, just a kind of challenge, but if there is an artistic member who would like to do a badge that would be welcome.

I got a small stack of kits today, one of which I'll start on the 1st. That would give me 5 days I believe.

Ok, I’ve selected and started mine... before midnight on December 25, within Pacific Standard Time zone. But I’ll hold off on photos until a thread is started...
