Hey everyone! I too got these emails. It turns out it was a glitch in Kalmbach's email service provider. Us at FSM weren't even aware of the issue until this morning and I'm glad to see it has been resolved.

Super sorry about the random emails, you can just ignore all of those.

"Thank you for registering" is 180 degrees from the "Thank you for subscribing" that I've been reading all the complaints about.

I'm confused, did the email in question state "subscribing" or "registering"? (I didn't get the email)

Registering with a link to subscribe. Yes, big differance.

Not really, in security terms.  Either one could have been a sign that an account was compromised.

It's good that it turned out to be an error.

But it wasn't "much ado about nothing", either.  When we receive emails suggesting that we did something that we know we didn't do, it is natural to suspect that there has been a hack, that our online identities have been compromised.

I just would have put it in the Ready Room, instead of General Modeling Discussion Wink

I just got an email from Kalmbach admitting they had a glitch that caused the emails to go out and an apology. It's great they owned up to the error but when it comes to them and technology there seems to be a sense that it's the amateur hour.

Sorry, for those who believe  (in my opion only) that that comments expressed here where "just about a couple of emails", unfortunately it is not.

I routinely receive, what I can describe as spam from this publisher with no obvious  means via my  account with said publisher to deactivate anything other than FSM communication, which has been setup like this for years.

I have had "other" events recently that took more time then needed to fix a problems with the publisher, which where eventually sorted.

If the purpose behind this type of marketing is an attempt to increase revenue, then pherhaps charge a low rate for use of this fourum on an annual basis.

I think this is not a big deal. I got three total, I spam tagged them, I expect I'll never get more.

No worries.  I ignore 90% of my email anyway.  Thanks for the follow up.

And thanks for this free service you're providing.  Model railroader forum too.
