Yes, the problem was resolved a couple of weeks ago.  No more warnings.

Whoops! Guess it was my fault... Embarrassed

It must have been some ad or the other. After getting the message everytime I logged on for a week I haven't had the error in over a month.

   "... It's Chinatown..."

Or:

Gamera, What was that you were saying, "don't blame me if I break the internet..."??

The "hit" on Anti-virus seems harmless.  As mentioned, probably caused by one of the Ad streams.

I'm getting the same response from AVG anti-virus on my desktop and laptop. Both running Pale Moon browser and Win 10 and 7.

It's more an irritant than a real issue but if you guys can find out what's going on I'd be grateful...

Just to re-confirm that troubled link to an FSM advertizer...to those who have not seen it... from Avast:

See, and that why I always say, don't run a virus scanner. Ignorance is bliss...

Glad it's been sorted out Gary.

Well, it is not a false positive and it's not a problem with FSM.  It is a problem with Avast, but not in its operation.  Essentially, one of FSM's advertisers or links URL has been placed on a "blacklist" for Avast AVS because of problems at the owner's site (could be a lot of things).  What this means is that people with Avast who log on will see this message.  Now this doesn't mean that FSM has a problem.  Running AV or Malware detection on this site will show nothing.  What it does mean is that FSM should be aware of the problem and try to contact the advertiser or link to also inform them that they are on a blacklist of sites for Avast.  Otherwise, people logging onto this site (who run Avast) and getting this message may think twice about coming here and participating.  As you can see, it doesn't bother me as I understand (a little) about what is happening.  Smile

I just thought I would like to clarify this situation for those curious.  Elizabeth has been informed (along with a copy of the threat message) and FSM will probably contact the owner of the blacklisted site to inform them of the problem.  We now return you to your regular posting.

Probably a false positive from avast itself. It is probably a cookie tracker that is upsetting it so I would email avast support.

run a full virus and malware check with the very latest definitions and if nothing comes to light then Avast's hamster came off its wheel Or the elastic band snapped. nothing to worry about. My antivirus, AVG free, has never popped its head above the parapet on this website and it has caught some nasty stuff. Never had an issue with viruses at all!

Blackpowder1956

Thanks Gary! On the Model Railroader site (also Kalmbach) they think I am crazy.

LOL!   I thought I was too, until I saw the two posts on it.  Same here...past two days when I click onto FSM I get the same message.  I ran AVAST and SpyBot afterwards both times and it didn't pick anything up.

For the last two days on this website and on the Model Railroading website when I log on to individual topics I am getting a Malware detection notice from my Avast antivirus software on my Mac. This has never happened before in years of participation on this site. Please try to dignose and fix this problem.
