Painting a model gets mine back.  Specifically airbrushing gets my juices going.  I just did painting of a kit then I did some assembly of a Tamiya kit I started last week then lost interest in it.  Then it came back after I finished painting the other one.  The magic still works!

I agree with the advice to build a simple kit.  It got me going again this year!    I would also suggest keeping it OOTB so that the build is fast.

Another bit of advice is to set aside a time to work on a kit and follow through and do it.  It is hard I know, but sometimes it works.  Sometimes too well - I have dragged myself to the workbench and then got into the groove until the wee hours.  On a work day.  Not good!

Two things that usually get me back into the flow of things; first is to watch a movie or TV program about your more favored subject.

A movie like Dunkirk or Midway if they have planes that you like to build. An armored warfare documentary on History channel or the movie Fury for tanks.

Second is to knock out a kit that is an easy one to complete. Like those Bandai Star Wars kits that almost require no detailing and finishing. Something simple that interests you, but not so much that you feel the need to delve into super detailing the kit. That is often what causes you to stumble and not finish the kit.

I find a simple, quick build that doesn't take any time or effort will light the fires. A basic kit that practically builds itself and quick fast and in a hurry. Perhaps even a kit you would not otherwise want to build as it's out of your norm, but EASY. Something that takes 10 hrs or less all in.

I agree with the U Tube suggestion, but here is another. Go to a well stocked hobby store, (or the on line version), and forget cost. Buy something you really want to build, i mean really want to build, but have put it aside because of the cost, or fear that you won't do it justice, and have a crack.

 

That's  good idea! Just have to figure out a kit then maybe pull the plug!

Well at least we're going on the same boat together. The trip is always more enjoyable.

Maybe a bandai kit could reguivinate the ol' modelling juices?

I'm in the same boat. I travel for work Monday through Friday and when I get home I absolutely have zero desire to build anything.

I don't know if you only build in venue but I find when I start feeling like stopping I switch to another venue.  I do ships and armor and felt the same way so I pick one a airplane kit I won at a show.  Taking on the challenge of something new revived me.
