I have had wonderful service from Andy. I wish he had a store in Australia.
I long to live in a world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned
I have only dealt with him via his website retsil. I did meet him at the Nats this year. Not starting anything, as far as I'm concerned we're cool, though it sounds like he is more upstanding than the folks that are originally being discussed. I never dealt with Internet Hobbies so my opinion of them is skewed.
we're modelers it's what we do
No worries. I'll betcha Andy isn't selling his vintage kit find though. If he is, most likely charging 3 - 4 times more than what eBay would sell for.
Ok just giving a suggestion.
That idiot who claimed he scored a huge stash of vintage model kits and bragged about it on YouTube? Pfffttt... no thanks.
Andyshobbyheadquarteres is in Arizona, fast prices comp and great service.
OK great to know that. Thank you for the help.

What places would you people recomend a new comer to use?
A couple of off-the-beaten-track places for aftermarket stuff for aircraft:
D-Molds (Russian mom-and-pop that specializes in resin aftermarket parts for jets)
Quinta Studio (Russian company that makes outrageously awesome cockpit detail sets for jets and props)
I like ordering directly from both so I can get their latest and greatest stuff. They give excellent service, and shipping only takes about 2 weeks door-to-door.

Freetime Hobbies is good
Im sorry to say that I wouldn't recommend Squadron 3.0. Their roll out of the revised entity has not been greatly received. They're not as good as Squadron 1.0 and marginally better than late 2.0
Omnimodels and Dragon hobby on ebay

I suspect that enough complaints had accumulated, for the AG's office to take action.
The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.
Since a lot of their business was from out of state, I wonder if they could nail them on the interfering with interstate commerce, and for any mail orders, on using the mail to commit fraud.
Just walk away.
Reading that article has been the best part of my day so far!
I think it is worth bumping this old thread to the top of the page again, so people stay away from these clowns. Here is the latest- https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/taking-action/press-releases/attorney-general-shapiro-files-complaint-against-online-hobby-shop-warns-of-holiday-shopping-scams/?fbclid=IwAR3Cjb7mEvJ-53pFKJFLtDOAHyxCUJ0c-NJWDNWsV8z2VaJV7L14YVH6Pzg
Besides Internet Hobbies and Hobby Models, there is a long list of other front names used by these same jerks at the end of the article. Beware!
I got ripped off by them as well. Numerous calls went unanswered. I even went far as reporting it the the BBB. Then again, they don't care either. Lost out on $40 from them. Hope they enjoyed it.
Almost fell for their baloney when I was searching for the new Trumpeter 1/200 Titanic but read a few too many bad reviews...Definitely not the way to run a business.

Yes it is the worst I finally got my refund after he called me on the phone, what a nasty ***
One of the worst Mail Order business I've ever dealt with. Spent over $150 got $45 worth of kits(short on an order and no delivery on another). Numerous attempts to contact with no reply.
Thanks for the heads up about Squadron. I don't deal with too many companies online since I have a couple of great brick and mortar places close by. I saw the Moebius Elvira figure kit advertised on there, "available to order". My better half would love that for Christmas, but I think she is out of luck lol, I won't be ordering from them, since I know that kit is pretty hard to find, and expensive. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is.
The good news in the Internet Age is that it's often easier to research an unfamiliar vendor to get some feel for their reputation. Too many 'good' reviews -- which all seem to have the same exact wording -- can be as big a red flag as detail-specific bad ones. Real comments on forums such as ours tend to give more credible specifics, either way.
Never dealt with Internet Hobbies, but I have had a couple of really positive experiences recently with two places I had never dealt with before. One is a shop in Greece called Discount Hobby. I ordered a Su-25 reference book there that I just couldn't find anywhere for a price that was even close to reasonable. I paid with Paypal, just in case they were crooks. Elected to pay the extra 3 Euros for the expedited shipping they said would get it to the US in 2-3 business days..."knowing" full well that the claim had to be BS. But, my order showed up here in Colorado in 2 days! Also tried a place in NH recently called HobbyWorldUSA, due to the fact that they had the best selection of MRP paint I have found to date. Also a pleasant, trouble-free, no BS experience. Then there is my old stand-by, Sprue Brothers, which has also been great to deal with. Sometimes their inventory isn't accurate and they have to back-order after the fact, but they refund the money automatically and send you an e-mail on their own explaining the change. Definitely don't deal with the bad ones. There are way too many good ones out there to waste time on the places that think everybody owes them a job.
Internet Hobbies is just one of the companies operating in this manner these days - they list just about everything, most of which they don't actually have, and have no idea if they can even get it, ever. But they will gladly take your money right now, and fight you tooth and nail to keep it once they have it. Beware of Squadron, also. They have 'available to order'. This means the same thing. They don't have it, may never be able to get it. But your money's good right now.
Internet Hobbies has had a bad reputation for years regarding their business practices. You are just the latest of many to post a tale of woe with the company.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...
