ICM has announced a Ki-21 Sally in 1/72 AND 1/48 for 2022.  Personally not my cup of tea, but no doubt it will make some very happy.  Perhaps they will do a 1/48 Nell later on.  AFAIK Koster's vac-form is the only 1/48 kit out there.

AZ models did the Ki-48 Lily in 1/48, be sure to get the second release with the improved nose parts.  Looks good in the box.  But why there is not a Nell in 1/48 from Hasegawa or Tamiya seems odd to me.

Just got an Aichi B7A2 (Grace) from Hasegawa in 1/48 as a Secret Santa GB gift.  Late war single engine gull wing attack bomber/torpedo aircraft.  Never saw carrier duty, as by then most all the remaining carriers were non-operational.

Wingspan given as 103', length 72'.

By my figuring, 25 3/4" span, 18" long

MPM did the He177 Greif in 1/48. I built it maybe a year ago. Decent kit.

I concur that it would be great to have more Axis multi engine bombers like the Nell.

not a bomber, but tamiya kitted a really nice Gekko in 1/48.

Another non bomber twin engine is the Tamiya Hyakushiki Shitei, and Nichimo Nick both in 1/48.

yes, I've built both versions of the gecko and there are many models of 1/48 german multi engine a/c made.

Yes, all the main German multi engine bombers are covered in 1/48 aside from perhaps the He-177. And the Brits are being well covered as well, although not quite as thoroughly as the US and Germans. The Italians are like the Japanese in mainstream injection molded 1/48 kits though. I don't think that there is anything beyond the SM.79 available currently.

Twin and three engine bombers were the overwhelming majority of types in WW2.

There's a fixation on the fours, seems to dominate the hobby market in the Revell/ Airfix catalogs.

1/48 is a largish scale for multi engines. 1/48 he-111, 1/48 sm79?

You didn't specify which bomber you had in mind, but other Japanese companies -- Fujimi, Hasegawa and (I think) Nitto -- have also done some, including Bettys and some of the carrier-borne types.

Not in 1/48. The only twin engine injection molded bomber kit out there is Tamiya's Betty. Any other attack/bomber type kits in 1/48 are all single engine.

Why is it that Tamiya makes the only 1/48 injection molded japanese bomber?

It would be nice if the selection expanded. I'd love to get a 1/48 Nell and Peggy. A Sally, Helen, and some of the other IJA bombers would be nice too.
