Not having any knowledge/experience with a laser cutter, I have to wonder, if it goes through wood by burning will it have enough power to go through plastic?  Also to be considered:

How smooth will the edges be?

Is the power variable?

Will some sanding be needed if something melts?

How much movability control will you have?

Will the trans-phase inducer hold up?

If cutting plastic, will it matter if you try cutting through the shinny side if you have one.  You don't want laser light bouncing off a shinny surface

And one of the most important questions....

What's the flight duration of a sparrow carrying a one pound coconut?

Hi Ya'll:

I have recently seen an ad for a Laser Cutter and it looks cool. Appears do do some fine work. What I am wondering is this. Can this tool be used on Sheet plastic?
