Can't believe you finished all these kits even with the Akagi on the bench. You're the man Steve. Bow Down

These are a lot of models! You made more models in a year than I did in pretty much my whole life LOL!

Anyway, really nice kits you made, definitely impressed with your Akagi. Keep up the good work!

Those kinds of people are worthless, all they're good at is causing trouble for everyone else while getting ahead themselves. Unfortunately, they are usually the ones who retire well off. Life is not at all fair.

A job would be good.  I have been putting in about 6 hours a month at the place that laid me off but that's about to end.  The crazy thing about that is the guy who laid me off is the one who came back to the company, got the one who took his job fired and then went back to giving me a hard time again until he could find a reason to get rid of me and I have more time there than anybody except the boss.

Thank you.

Ikar, she only minds me away in the hobby room, she loves it otherwise. The guys that went to Vegas and met her know what I'm talking about.

Those are amazing Steve!!! Just the Akagi would be enough for one year! I think that's more than I turned out in five! And they're all your usual superb quality!

Happy anniversary!

How did your wife take to you building models?  At first mine thought they were just toys, until she met the club, saw some contests and so on.

So, what do you think will be your next build?

I'm starting the year with my Secret Santa gift. I just ordered some figures for it for to do a small dio. I'll probably start on it tomorrow since today is our 24th anniversary.

That is one heck of a collection for a year.  Very good job.  One of my favorite aircraft of WWII was the Hurricane, the other was the P-39.  There's just something about having car doors with roll down windows and a cannon in the nose.

I have been thinking about the Independence or New York for a future build.  I'd do a JMSDF ship but they don't make them in 1/350th.

So, what do you think will be your next build?  Maybe a early Japanese fighter in Thai markings?  Or a American WWII aircraft in Thai markings?

Modelcrazy's 2021 builds

Since I'm not going to finish any more this year I thought I'd go ahead and sum up this years build.

Much of the year was taken up with the Akagi but I was able to get a few done in between and after. I built fourteen this year so let's get started.

What a year of ups and downs. My first Nats, the excitement of my brothers transplant then the worry and concern of his recovery, new job.....

First on the list is the Takom Yamato turret. This was a fun kit, and big too. Since this photo I added some more intrest to the deck. Unfortunately, the railing was damaged returning from Vegas. I'll fix it at some point.

Image

Next is my 1/72 Airfix Spitfire. Another nice and fun kit. I applied aftermarket decals.

Image

Next came the 1/350 Hasegawa Akagi. I believe some of you followed my journey from start to finish as well as my Third place trophy at the Nats and Peoples Choice award at our local show. It was a nice kit with an extraordinary amount of  aftermarket. It too a little over a year and was enjoyable but stressful at times.

Image

After that I layed back with the 1/72 Heller SBC Helldiver with and aftermarket cockpit and decals.

Image

Then came the 1/72 Airfix Bf-109. I combined it with the Spit for and Adversaries set.

Image
Image

I went back to the modern era with a 1/72 Modelsvet Mirage IIEA. This was a beautiful kit and I enjoyed the Modelsvet kit. I would like to build more when they come out with something I'm interested in. maybe the MiG-17 or Ass-ender some day.

Image

I then dove into another new company for me. The 1/72 Arma Hobby Mk.1 Hurricane. I loved this Arma Hobby kit. The construction was streight forward and the cockpit was very detailed, although I did need to do some modification to make it fit, I'm pretty sure that was my fault. Their customer service is top notch and I look forward to buying mire kits from them in the future. Again, the decals were aftermarket.

Image

Next was a tiny kit that I wanted to build in Lewbud's hornor. It was the 1/144 Revell Puma in Tiger Meet markings. Nice little kit and easer than it looks although I'll stick to kits larger than 1/144 unless they are airliners or larger. I had a few more in the stash that I'll build but that's all.

Image

I decided I better complete my Secret Santa gift from last Christmas so I returned to the 1/350 Trumpeter USS Freedom. No aftermarket this time but some of the parts and PE were insanely small, and this coming from me who installed interiors in 37 1/350 scale aircraft

Image

I then completed my 1/72 Hasegawa Ki-84 in 36 hours for the Weekend Madness, again for Buddy

Image

Then got back to and completet the 1/72 Hasegawa MiG-27

Image

And completed my 1/72 Revell M1A1 HA. I added some stowage from Black Dogz and tried some techniques I learned from Uncle Night Shift.

Image

I then completed my 1/72 Hasegawa F-35A. Another nice kit with far more detail than usually found in 1/72 Hase kits

Image

Finally last but not least, the 1/72 Hasegawa Pz IV.

Image

Lets see.... I count fourteen! Not bad since the Akagi took so much of my time.

That's all for this year and hope y'all have a great 2022.

Keep building kits and not just collect them.
