Hi Wayne,

I don't think it's a delay as much as it is a delivery update. We've recieved our review sample and it's already with Tim Boyd for review, so everything is moving apace. I'll check with Revell, though, and get back to you.

BTW, we opened up the kit in a recent FSMW. It looks stellar. Click here to see the video.

Just heard back from Revell. There is no delay. The Mustangs are in the warehouse. If you saw a distributor list the arrival as August, then that's just what they listed as the arrival date. So, no delays and nothing out of sorts.

I've been wanting to build a worthwhile 71 or so Mustang like this for a while. Somehow the AMT offering just doesn't do it for me. Thanks for the info Tim.

You're welcome! I just emailed with Tim Boyd this morning. Not to spoil the review he's writing, but I think you'll like this model. I'll drop the link to the review here when it hits the site.

I normally don't build muscle cars.

But when I do, it will be a 1971 Mustang.

Ordered mine yesterday from HobbyNut.  He says he's expecting to start shipping in early July.  This one definitely appeals to me because my car in high school was a 72 Mustang with a 351 Cleveland...always wanted the Mach 1 with the Boss 351, so now I can have one in plastic.  Cool

If it's anything like some of the newer Revell stuff that's hitting the shelves, it outta be a real winner. Things seemed to start changing for Revell auto kits somewhere around when the Foose FD-100 pickup was released. What a game changer that kit was.....and it just seems to get better with every new kit. AMT has upped their game as a result with the release of some much needed newer kits.

Looking forward to that review when it gets here Tim and thanks again.

I'm in the middle of building this one...had to switch gears for a little while.  The masking on the F-35 project was burning me out.  I can definitely say that this one is really well done.  So far, the fit has been excellent, and the molding is almost to the level of Bandai's stuff...the practically non-existent parting lines. Their sprue attachment points also kinda remind me of Bandai...just incredibly easy to clean up without accidentally damaging the part.  Love the plastic too...just the right density and hardness, so its incredibly pleasant to work with.

I think there are a couple of different versions of this one, judging by the box art examples on Scalemates.  Mine ended up being the boxing with the white Mustang, and the painting/decaling instructions only show the white version.  But, the decal sheet has both the black and argent silver metallic striping options, so that covers all of the body color options.  I'm going with MCW Acapulco Blue Metallic with the argent silver striping/accents.  The interior is well-done...even has the little turn signal arrows molded into the instrument panel like what I remember from the 72 I had in high school.  The upholstery appears to be the more rare Mach 1 option that Boss 351s could be ordered with.  I'll be doing that in black with argent stripes.

For the white lettering on the tires, the kit comes with decals to accomplish it.

Loving it so far.  Just waiting for my plug wires to show up from Hobbynut.
