sadly i need to post this.
Posted by fightnjoe on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 8:26 PM
i didnt want to post negetive comments about any company (other than revell of course) on this forum. i was hoping that i would be able to avoid it. but i feel i have to post this as a warning to others that may be thinking of using avusk.

i ordered one kit from this company at the end of feb. i studied the site and understood the order would take 4 to 6 weeks. i accepted this and ordered anyway. now it is july and i still have recieved no kit. i waited thinking they were swamped with work. but enough is enough. i am now feeling that i have been ripped off. i no longer expect the kit or the money back.

i have heard that others have recieved their orders within reasonable time frames. i am rather frustrated and angry that this kit, a 1/72 b-18, will not grace my display cases. it was something i wanted badly. as there is no other source for this subject i guess i am out of luck.

Whew, scared me Joe. Sorry to hear of your unfortunate episode. Are they local? I had one disappointment with Greatmodels, but still do business with them. Overall, their decent.

Thanks for the heads up, Joe.
Actually, I'm glad to hear that's all it was! (Not to make light of the situation, but I thought something was gravely wrong with you!)

I think that's one of the valuable things about a forum like this; the ability to warn fellow hobbyists about dodgy businesses.
Thanks, Joe!

Joe,

Sorry to hear about your problems and thank you for the heads up. Unfortunately, buying off the net or over the telephone is almost a double edged sword. If you pay with money order as you did, and the item is not delivered as in your case, it's almost impossible to get your money back. And if you use your credit or bank card, there's a fair to middling chance someone will end up with the numbers off of it and use it for their own ends. Unfortunately don't know what the answer is to these problems.

Tough break. But why would you hate to poste negative comments about a company, especially one treating a paying customer as such? That's all a part of the forum community, and I for one very much appreciate being forwarned. Were I to get ripped off, I would post and post and post spreading the word so that others do not waste/lose their money as I would have.

I don't know about those boys, they have been hot and cold with me. One order would go really swell with great service and then another order would have the ball dropped and I would get the worse service.

Always frustrating when you take a chance, and then begin to suspect you've been hosed. But maybe they're being held up by a kit manufacturer who hasn't delivered the promised kits on time (often a problem with small kit mfrs). Joe, in your e-mails have you specifically asked them to refund your money?

Joe,
The website has a phone number...have you tried that approach?

I used to deal with AvUsk when it was the original crew out in Washington and had no real trouble with them, great folks. They were up front and honest and if it was gonna be a mega-wait, they told you.

The new crew in Nebraska left a bad impression on me the one and only time I actually met them. I don't think they'd deliberately hoop someone, but they definitely were not the same type of people as the original Uskians and they certainly didn't have the same customer service qualities.

Nevertheless, and I hate to agree with the forum Führer here, one of Aviation Usk's main problems over the years has, indeed, been the fact that quite often they have to wait on the manufacturer(s), especially given the type of products they offer.

Hopefully things'll work out for you Joe...

i just wish i had not made them mistakes i did. first i did not make sure they had the kit, i did not call them at all, i have not specified the money back (i really want that kit), and i didnt post this much much earlier. i am too laid back for my own good. i just wish i had done some things different.

Hi fightnjoe,
I had met (last year at a convention/model show) one of the principles at AvUsk;
he seemed very smart and customer friendly. I really suggest you try contacting them via the phone or registered/certified letter. I know they advertise in FSM and SAMI, and I have seen some of the newer kits here in shops in the Twin Cities. As Mr.Hansen stated, they may be at the mercy of a manufacturer or vendor who has not delivered the goods; in any case, I am sure they will make it right if you tell them you want your money back. Hope it works out for you!

elfkin thanks. i will give them another shot. boy i would love to have the kit. it is a subject that is close to my heart. the only thing that really bothered me is how this has happened. the only word i have gotten is that the kit will be shipped soon. not it is oos or the mfg hasnt shipped yet. either one of those would have satisfied me. but the no news is good news idea didnt work. but that is just my customer service background. ah well i will send them another email. we shall see.
