I joined the the corps 32 years ago this month and did three years and extended for one more.. I was an 7011 air launch and recovery tech,( if it had a tail hook i caught it ) !  Did boot camp in M.C.R.D. San Diego (Hollywood marine ) advance training in Lakehurst N.J.  First duty station was M.C.A.S. Yuma then on to Camp Butler Okinawa And on to M.C.A.S. El Toro ... Got out as an E-4 .. I served in the 1st and the 3ed M.A.W. Still gotta build an OA-4 M from the head quarters squadron in YUMA . On a sad note the 3ed M.A.W. just lost 7 marines just the other day !

U.S. Navy Reserve 20 years.  First 8 as a blackshoe, last 12 with The Fightin' Seabees. 

U.S. Marine Corps, 20 years, as Enlisted  - Infantry (0311) and recon (0321), as Officer - Infantry (0302). All active duty.

6 overseas assignments ('nuff said on those). Parris Island, Quantico, Camp Lejeune, Camp Pendleton, 29 Palms in CONUS.

Regular Army '83 to '87. Guard '88 till retirement in '07. 18 month mob and deployment '04 - '06. Was
a Infantry (TOW gunner, '60 Gunner, PL Driver/RTO,  Rifle Fire Team leader), Intel with 19th SFG and finally (longest assigment) Commo Sgt for a LRSU.

Currently stationed in Ft Livingroom, IA

Seven years U.S. Army Calibration Specialist (1979 - 1986.) Did PMEL training at Lowry AFB and was stationed in Korea (Camp Carroll), Ft Hood and then down to Panama (and Honduras.)

4 years USAF enlisted. E-3 AWACS crewmember. Comm. Tech. I was in charge of troubleshoot and repair of the onboard radios and other comm. gear. Several deployments to the middle east and other tdy's scattered about. Desert Storm.

Probably because it got revieved after about 8 years. Look at the original dates and they are in 2003.

Anyways, I was in for over 21 year in the Army Reserves, 11 years as a Fire Direction Specialist in the Field Artillery and 10 as a truck driver. Two deployments, one to Germany for the Bosnia mission and one to Iraq for the war.

Retired 6 years ago and never looked back.

4 yrs USAF Mar 81-85; Civil Service  USAFRes Oct 85 to present.  Just received my 30 certificate and pin last week (they're a little slow).    All of it in Aircraft Fuel Systems maint. (Tank Rat)

4 + 21 (USN /USNR)

Opticalman, specializing in Submarine periscopes (NEC 1918).    One of the few OM's with real sea duty due to a year on the USS MARS (AFS-1) in 73.  Then the USS Dixon (AS-37) in San Diego.  Stayed in the reserves till 97, retired as a Chief.

since it was in 1975 to 1979, it was after Vietnam era, and before Grenada,,,,,,so, I only got to tour the USA and hit various USMC garden spots in country

so, if you ever want to go on a nice vacation, with lots of comfort,,,,,,,I can tell you 20 spots to be avoided in the 70's, lol,,,,,although,,,,,,I am sure it is allllll so very much nicer now that the Interstate is finished from place to place,,,,,,,,,,MCAS Yuma, anyone?,,,,,in July or August?

Army - 16 years in the field artillery (reserve).

Served 5/73 to 11/77 in the Army Security Agency as a 74F ( Programmer/Analyst) assigned to National Security Agency.  

I served 24yrs in the Navy ABHMC(Ret)  ,I loved it ,was stationed in Yokosuka,Iwakuni,Japan,Guam,the PI,and Perth Aus.Nas Fallon, Nas Pax River,Nas North Island, I enjoyed Uncle Sam's great Asian Vacation(Vietnam) and the Great Desert (Gulf War)one as well,got my own chest full of heavy metal,LOL.My Dad joined the Navy and I saw the world,then I went back and saw it again,and so did my kid's!!

I got out and went to Culinary School now I'm an Exec. Chef.

My Father was in 32yrs ABHSMC(Ret) Senior Master Chief,and a genuine hero,Silver Star,Bronze Star,Distinguished Flying Cross,2 Purple Hearts,54 Meritorius Service Medals.

My Father was truly a Great man personally and a Navy man all the way. I was raised in the Navy fashion morning inspection before school,and reading the Plan Of The Day posted everyday on the board, Friday night liberty,till 6am on Sunday then it was turn to and make everything squared away,laundry mow the lawn mow the rug,clean and polish everything,then the Chiefs inspection !!

Read the dictionary,the bible,the encyclopiedia,and more my father believed that knowlege is power.

 Kids today have it easy.
