A surprising development.

Went to the local Hobby Lobby with my wife last week. When she got through getting what she needed she came over to collect me in the modeling section (she ALWAYS knows where to find me in any store!!Tongue [:P]). While I finished up making my selection (an Academy 1/72 Me-109E and a Revell Tri-Motor) she looked around and then announced that she wanted to do a sailing ship!! With heart in my throat (some of those kits are $200.00[:0]) I was surprised that she had picked up the Lindbergh Jolly RogerCool [8D]. This past week she has been working on it while I was at work and I have to admit she has done a really good job on it so far. I'll post some pics of it as soon as I can get my computer straightened out and be able to edit the pics. So far she says she really enjoys it and wants to do some more of them. And this from the person whom I thought didn't have the patience for this!!.Big Smile [:D]

Very cool. My wife is very tolerant of our hobby for the most part, but would never succumb to sitting side-by-side and working on kits together. Your a lucky man, count your blessings.

Kevin - odd thing is the same thing happened with my wife... went to the LHS and she sat on the floor with her book in the corner like always.. when I was done I went to get her and she was looking at a sailing ship with the owner and had the box opened fingering the parts! Trouble is she didn't want to start small... she settled on a wooden schooner with all the rigging and everything. I finally talked her into that 1/72 PT-109 as a starter kit, just to figure out how to read directions and such... told her we would move up to a 1/300 modern warship in time and when we both felt ready to go for the gusto and get her massive ship...

I know her patience level and think she will get frustrated and I will end up botching it up finishing it instead... She's extremely artistic and it comes naturally, so if it gives her fits she figures it just isnt in her...

Of course maybe I should get it for her.. if she really is passionate about it she'll make it better than I can!!!

My wife tolerates my modeling habit, but would never build a kit. Her hobby is ceramics & she's very good at that Craft.

Do just that get it for her - there is no greater motivation than truly wanting to do something. There is little point in the PT is she doesn't want to build it!

Fantastic.......
That'd be great to be able to share your passion for the hobby.
My wife understands and appreciates the fine craftsmanship she sees, and can see shoddy workmanship as well, but hasn't got the interest to pick up a kit and have ago at it.
Good luck, guys.

Cheers, LeeTree
