I'm an army brat, born on base at CFB Greisbach, Edmonton. My father
was with the Loyal Eddies at Ortona, my uncle flew for both the RAF
(Hercs in the BoB) and the RCAF (bomber escort out of Malta), my
father-in-law & grandfather-in-law were in the British Army (both
at el Alamein), my mother-in-law was evacuated from London to Canada as
a child (her mother was eventually bombed out of three homes), and my
mother built Lancs at Avro and took war amps to Leafs games as a
volunteer. My grandmother was a personal friend of Lt. Colonel John
McRae (author of "In Flanders Fields"). You can be sure that my entire
family will be at the local cenotaph at 11AM to honour those who have
fallen and those who served, and to thank those who still serve, to
insure our freedoms.
