Yea, the Cavanaugh Air Museum. What a gem, and only 3-4 miles from my home. Have been living in Dallas for 6 years, but wasn't interested in anything like that until I caught the modeling bug this past summer. A superb museum. They just need a few tanks.
Getting back to the new shop - you're right, the owner is a very nice man. Turns out that armor is his specialty, and he has an excellent selection of some of the the harder to find kits. He has space in his display case for people to bring in their builds.
He told me that the back room is available for airbrushing, and I think he plans on having a modeling club or clinic on certain Saturdays.
He also did some charity work for the Plano, TX public library system - arranged for model vendors to donate kits for kids and their dads (or moms) to build - sort of a modeling outreach.
I will definitely continue to support this new LHS with my business.
