Got a call from NAS Pensacola. It looks like we may qualify for the event. I would have to be the sponsor, as they require an active duty or retired military to sponsor the event. There is a series of paperwork I have to complete with each going up for review. The whole process takes from three to four months. If approved then we have to pick a date and schedule of events to present to the staff. Any one give me inputs now, because once the process starts I can't stop it for changes.

How about early in nov '04 (that way we don't interfer with thanksgiving or some states deer hunting seasons). Either on a Fri, Sat, Sun. or Mon, Tue, Wed. We'll also need some arraingments for a Hotel. Pref with somekind of group rate or something. Also with somekind of meeting room, ballroom or auditorm for us to meet in. Also a bar too (to fullfill the required Beer intake).

Hi Guys, man i can't belive that i have missed this thread till now. Domi how about us organising a meet in europe for those who can't make it to the States? Belgium sounds cool to me, do you know of any good museums there where we could hold it. plus any good model shops of course (and CHOCOLATE shops). i don't mind helping in any way i can and wouldn't mind carpooling for this.any takers? cheers. I'm kicking myself for only now reading this. I agree with all said, the forum is kind of a home away from home, so to speak.

One thing that fascinates me, is with all the junk going on around the world, people from many great nations around the globe can come together in this forum and help one another out. Many of us will never meet one another. Yet, we still take our time and effort to help a guy with a problem. Why can't our countries do the same?

This has truely been a rewarding experience and it's been great listening and gaining knowledge about much more than just modeling. It's nice to get to know the person also. Thanks for letting me throw in my 2 cents.

Tigerman you said it all there, one of the greatest gifts that this forum has given me is the knowledge that there are people out there that will give their time and effort to help . sometimes you guys go further than that, i have had decals sent to me to help with projects. i have photocopied articles and posted them to help others with their projects. where i have had spare copies of the magazine with the article in i have posted that (they should be with you soon woody), i have even been offered a free kit through this forum and so far no-one has even asked for the postage let alone monies for the articles that have been sent to me and it is the least i can do to reciprocate with this, so to all of you guys and gals out there a great big THANKS for everything and i feel privelaged to call you all my friends. cheers'n'beers. Greg, the 'Europe meet' sounds cool too. I'd really like to do it in '05 or '06, for the second or third yearly meet, so that we can hope to see a few US members to join in as well. I do not think that there are that many European 'active' members on this forum yet to warrant a big meet any earlier. In a couple of years, things will hopefully be different. I'd recommend April or May, or even October as the weather is already getting better (or is still nice enough) and flights to Europe are still reasonable. Keeping costs down will be the main problem for whoever is attending of course. I know enough people in Belgium and France and the UK to help us getting decent accommodation at decent prices, and would not find any problems in getting us a venue, and finding stuff to do durng the visit. The Nov '04 event in the US would not be too expensive for us Europeans, with a price tag of about £250 for the flight. I'm sure our US friends can find cheap accommodation and also plenty to see, visit,.. to keep us busy a few days and make it sound worthwhile in terms of value for money.

well done! Looks like you're taking the initiative and I like that. If not, we're gonna talk and talk and never do anything! If you need any support, just ask, although from over here, I'm not sure how I could help. But if you think of anything, let me know.

In a previous post, I had suggested we bring in models to show. Would that be possible? Can we organise a mini-show in the Museum? Maybe FSM would be more willing to help that way? By the way, I think we need to check with FSM if we can actually use their 'banner' to organise this...!

For us Europeans, I'd say a 4 to 5-day trip would be the minimum, and in order to benefit from the best airfares, an overnight stay on Saturday will be needed. If you US members can not organise something that long, it will be necessary for us to find a place where there's other things to see and do...

Hi Domi, a 2005 meet sounds good to me and i agree with you about it giving our stateside friends time to save up. plus belgium is within realistic driving distance using the channel tunnel. i won't be able to make the meet in the USA next year though as i have just bought a house and most of the money is tied up at the moment and will be for a good few months yet. how about doing a small meet for the UK next year? i am sure that there are some members who like me can't make it to the US next year but would like to meet up, it would be a way for them not to be left out and there are many venues that could host such a meet (Newark Air Museum springs to mind for this). please let me know what you think. how many of you folks out there would like to do this? please let me know and i will see what i can come up with plus have any of you olks got any other sugestions on a possable venue. cheers. Greg, OK, let's do something in the UK next year too. What about posting a new message calling all European members, and check interest?

I like the idea for a get together in Europe in 2005. In 2006, Japan, 2007, Canada and from there on, any place decided. This way we will really be an international club.
