I swear to god that I saw an add in either FSM or Tamiya mag for a website which was a database for photoetch only. They listed all known available kits from various companies.

 I am not sure if you could order from them. It must have been a year ago or so.

 Am I right? or have I been sitting to close to the glue can?

Hi again.

Spruebrothers and Bablenw, thank you both for the information. I am going to take a look at both of the web sites. You have given me new hope for entering into the world of photo-etch.

Thanks, Wes

Wes;

You're very welcome.

I did a Google search and found two videos you may be interested in. One is how to make your own parts and the other deals with a tool called an Etchmate that is an essential tool for working and bending PE parts. I don't have one....yet, but I know folks that have used it and really love it.

You could also search here in the FSM site for PDF files tutorials on PE parts as I know they've done some great articles in the past on the subject.

Cheers

You can also try this place http://www.meteorprod.com/ .  They're based out of Virginia. They have tons of PE stuff and have reasonable rates.

We stock most of the Eduard sets (and other lines as well) and our shipping cost for one set is approx $1.50 to $2.50.

Hi there.

I have never used any photo-etch parts on any of my models, but am very interested in doing so. I have searched these forums and have found many distributors for PE parts. However, I have noticed that most of them are outside the United States and require a considerable amount of money to cover shipping and hanndleing. For example, I wanted to buy Eduards PE set for the British Challenger II Tank. The price for the set was 29 US dollars. Which is no problem. What I am having a problem with is the fact that Eduards web site said that shipping and hanndeling was 27 dollars if being sent to the US.

I am perfectly fine with paying for 30 bucks for the set, but I am having a hard time justifying paying another 30 dollars to have them shipped to me here in Florida.

So, a question for you expirienced modelers out there. Do most of you spend an extra 30 dollars on shipping and just absorb the cost or do you use some sort of third party dealer that allows the shipping to be much less? I am very interested in using photo-etch, but am not willing to pay almost double to have the PE shipped to me. How do some of you go about obtaining your PE parts.
