I agree, sell it. I built the original back in the late sixties and do not remember it being that detailed compared to current production models. It was in the same detail class of the 1/32 UH-1, AH-1G and other models of that time. I built them all and while they were fun to build they do not have the accuracy of today's models.

Plus maybe you can make enough money to buy a newer more detailed version.

I just checked E-bay. There's one there now. Link.

Unless you just "have" to build an original Aurora Chinook, I say sell it.  There are much better detailed and designed kits on the market now.  There is no reason to keep old kits as investments.  You won't make that much on them.  Models are made to be built, not collected in thier boxes.

You've got a treasure there. It's about 1/48, and pretty basic compared to todays kits. If you just have to have a 1/48 'Hook, get the Italeri kit, and save the Aurora as an investment. Pretty sure it is one of those whose mold was 'destroyed in the train wreck' after Aurora went under. They go for quite a bit on ebay.

The kit is either the prototype, or an early 'A' model, has a very rudimentary cockpit, has no cabin detail, and engine, rotor head, and landing gear are all extremely basic. It can be turned into a good model....but unless you just have to build an Aurora Chinook 'cause you did a bad job on the one you had as a kid and you want to make amends.... dont. Save it.

Joe, who still has the one he did a bad job on as a kid.

Bought it at a Salvation Army store-Anybody built one of these? It's dated 1972.

"no, honey, of course that's not another new model. I've had that one for a long time..."
