Their almost like the "Holy Grail" of Helicopter kits . I've had my Fujimi Seaking sitting on top of the stash for about 8 years now , wanting to build her next but in fear I'll make some huge colossal stuff-up and then never forgive myself .

I just went through my Fujimi Seakings for someone who was looking to see which kit included specific parts they needed for a project. I found the HSS-2B and SH-3H kits are nearly identical, the main difference being some extra cleaar parts (bubble side windows) and one extra long sponson are included in the SH-3H kit. I don't know if the HSS-2B is any easier for you to find down there, but thought it might be useful for you to know in case it is.

John,

Believe it or not, the Fujimi Sea King was part of a bigger lot and I probably have 5 bucks in it.  Same for the Has Hind A.  I won't pay over $20 for a kit unless I am really desperate to have one.  I paid about $22 for the Dragon UH-1D/H I think.

By the way, the monogram Cobra box is crammed with about 4 individual kits.  Those dang boxes just fall apart so I just put em all together.

Ray ,

I was having a real nice close look at your impressive stash of Helicopters , I noticed an Airfix SH-2 Seasprite and a Italeri CH-53E Super Stallion . I wish the kit manufacture's would re-issue those birds , I would certainly pick up at least 4 of each . I also noticed you and I have one of those rare Fujimi SH-3H Seaking kits . Their almost like the "Holy Grail" of Helicopter kits . I've had my Fujimi Seaking sitting on top of the stash for about 8 years now , wanting to build her next but in fear I'll make some huge colossal stuff-up and then never forgive myself . Just like when I tried to strip-back the original hand brush paint finish on my Airfix Seasprite , which turned out to be an absolute disaster and still can't believe I could be so stupid . Banged Head [banghead]

Anyway I really like your stash , I also noticed a Hasegawa Mil 24 ''Hind A'' kit . A few years ago I saw the same kit in one of the hobby stores here in Sydney , It was sitting on the shelf next to a Fujimi MH-53J 'pave low III' , both kits were $59.95 each . Nice kits but a little expensive for me . Although I went back a couple of weeks later thinking that if I saw them still there I would try and convince myself to buy them seeing I went to the trouble of going back to the store but somebody else must of already bought them and I haven't seen either kit ever since Disapprove [V]

Oh well , I guess I have enough kits in my stash to build without worrying about ones I dont have ; But sometimes I say to myself , If I could just get "that one" my stash would be complete but I usually say that every week .Big Smile [:D]

Thank's Ray , Charlie , Mel and everyone

I very much appreciate your kind words and comments .

I'm aiming for 2009 to be a year of lots of pic's of finished builds , rather than a workbench cluttered with half finished/stalled projects .

Happy Modelling everyone .

I am extremly fortunate to have the entire upstairs living area to myself . The second storey addition was built in the 1970's , original for my grandparents to stay in when they came up for a visit from the south coast . I now have sole use of the living area and over the past 8 or so years I've been able to add another display cabinet when needed . Obvisously the lounge suite and the spare fridge had to go and I'm now down to two living room chairs . My existing display cabinets will hold all my current builds , that are on/under and around the workbench . However I will need to expand with some more display cabinets if I want to fit most of my unbuilt Helicopter stash .

I certainly am very , very lucky to have all this space ; I realize  most modelers are lucky if they can get access to just one corner of a backroom in the house Sad [:(]

                                             Kind regards John

That is a bunch of beautiful helicopters John. They will look great in a nice china cabinet. I wish my wife would let me have some space in this house, but she already told me NO.

I am somewhat of a "neat freak" .

My stash is organized into seperate groups , USMC , Navy , Army and USAF . I get about 5 to 8 kits in each storage box with a sticker on the lid to remind me whats inside Confused [%-)] . The larger 1/48 and 1/35 kits are stored on top of a wall unit in another room .

I almost managed to get my completed builds onto a single table for a pic

I have some new display cabinets in the works to fit on either side and over the top of the TV

                                    Kind regards John

BTW , The camera flash makes the Helo's look very glossy than they actual are.

John,

Something different about your collection.....hmmm...what could it be.  Oh yeah, you have actually BUILT some of yours!!!  I bet you get the rest finished in a year or two at your current build speed!  By the way, I am impressed at your organizational skills.  My stash is just heaped in a closet.

Hey guys!

I've been working on my stash since my High School days so that's over 40 years of collecting the kits.  I keep hoping to find the time to get back to building but so far it hasn't happened.  Maybe this year, heh, heh!  Nice to see the bigger birds in 1/48 the past few years.  Nicer to be able to see all of your builds on FSM!  Keep up the good work!

Mel, you have entirely too many models. Bow [bow] My wife is killing me with the less than 20 models I have in my (embarassed to call it) stash.

I may be off a few kits but my inventory of helicopters shows 21 kits of 1/100, 1/72,  93 of 1/48,  and 46 of 1/35, 1/32, and 1/24 for a total of 160 kits.  Roughly 1/6th of my entire collection!  Heh, heh!

I  remember seeing the pic of your in-progress builds a few years ago, it looked like a combo of the Ft Drum boneyard and AMARC! Laugh [(-D]

Cheers,

I'll see about takin some pics of the stash.

Lots of stuff, but a lot of it is in various stages of building.  I think I've got 75 or so kits in the box and about 35 in various stages of construction.

I'm too embarrassed Blush [:I] to photograph and post pic's of my entire unbuilt kit collection . When I did a stocktake at the end of 2008 , my count was "398" kits . As far as Helicopters go , there are Four 1/35 kits , Twenty two 1/48 Kits and Seventy seven 1/72 Helicopter kits . The rest of the stash are Modern U.S.Jets/Aircraft .

None of mine are classic kits like some of the ones you have Gerald , I certainly like that Revell SH-2F Seasprite . Years ago Airfix had a nice 1/72 version of the U.S.Navy Seasprite , I really wish they would consider re-issuing her . For an Airfix kit I always thought it was one of their best Helicopter kits .

You certainly do have some nice large scale Helicopter kits Smile [:)]

                                          Kind regards John

Yeah, I have two of them...Reasonably detailed and somewhat accurate for an early A Model. Not quite 1/48th scale, Good for collectors, and makes into a good "three footer", but a great deal of work to get it close to resembling the actual aircraft.

The Italeri versions are much better starting points, plus they are less expensive!

Oh, I know.  I have the Italeri kits, and love the 35th Trump kits.  BUT....I am a Classic Kitaholic.

Not really. I picked up a few off ebay some time ago to use for a modeling project that stalled. I was going to make a scratchbuilt cockpit for Joe to sit in. Basically it was to be made from a section of PVC pipe with the details added in, then topped off with a R/C model canopy. My goal is to make it into a diorama with blinky lights and audio...maybe even motion too!

I got as far as designing and a start at building the bang seat...

Harness placement

The parts that make the seat go "BANG"

A comfy test pilot

Rudder pedals

One of these days I'll restart where I left off...it was a lot of fun working with Joe on this project...he's quiet and doesn't complain much.

I see some GI Joe boxes on the corner. Are you also a Joe guy? I still have my Army and Marine Joes along with the 5 star Jeep that my Dad got me for Christmas in 1965.

Over the weekend or most of it anyway I spent time cleaning and organizing my workshop...end of year cleaning and inventory Wink [;)] Anyway I have most of my helos together in one location, though I know in the back of my mind that I have more "bagged" kits packed away in totes or boxes elsewhere in the stash.

This morning I added to the stash, I ordered the Academy CH-53 and a BIG ED set from Sprue Brothers...a late Christmas present for myself Whistling [:-^] Part of my New Years resolution was to get active again in the workshop...so one way is to tackle a big build to not only to enjoy the process, but to also use it as a teaching tool to help teach others. I will shoot images and videos of my progress to share with others tips, techniques and how-tos that I use.

I'm looking forward to building scale models in 2009!!!
