1/48 HH-53 Super Jolly Green decals/instructions??
Posted by senojrn on Tuesday, February 25, 2003 10:28 AM
Hey!
I just bought a couple of Revell Germany's CH-53 GS/G kits and wanted to build one in the original kit configuration--that is the USAF HH-53 Super Jolly Green Giant. The parts are there in the kit, just the instruction manual is specifically for the new version. DOES ANYONE HAVE AN OLD INSTRUCTION SHEET FOR THE ORIGINAL--REVELL'S "SIKORSKY (H-53) VIETNAM RESCUE HELICOPTER"??? If you have a copy, I will gladly pay a reasonable price for a GOOD, CLEAR photocopied version of the assembly and painting instructions, plus postage. This would be a great help!
Also looking for any DECAL sets (aftermarket or good-condition) originals for the USAF Vietnam era version of this H-53 rescue helicopter.

The other kit I want to build in the USMC version of the H-53C Super Sea Stallion--I am also looking for DECAL sets for this.

CAN ANYONE OUT THERE HELP???? It would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! thanks

Have you contacted Revell?

Seems like they would be the most likely to get this from easily...

Not yet. My experience before was that they do not send out replacement parts or decal sheets from out of production kits. I will try, though. Thanks.

I have the directions from the original version, the one in Marine and German markings. What's so different about the second version, the USAF one? I assumed that it was just the same kit with a different box. I have unopened boxes of both, and don't want to open them now. If you need a certain page from the original version, I could scan and post it here, if you like. What part of the assembly procedure are you unclear on? I would think that all versions must be fairly close...

I contacted Revell-Monogram and they told me that they do not have that "in stock" anymore!

A simple photocopied instruction sheet would help greatly--any ideas on where to find one?

I would be ecstatic if I could get a copy of the original instruction sheet--looking mainly for painting, and markings placement, but the whole thing would be MUCH APPRECIATED!! The new kit instruction sheet focuses only on the new German GS/G versions--but I want to build a US version.

No Problema, Bro... you name it: I could scan them in and post them here, e-mail you a zip file, or snail-mail some photocopies... your choice. Let me know!

I have just finished the Air Force version(HH 53C) and I don't need the sheet.
You are welcome to it .Just put a mailing address in my box( DHI69@aol.com)and I
will send it out to you. It is the 3rd one in the past 20 years. It's starting to get better.
I just bought 2 off a friend not knowing the German one was rereleased.Thats
OK ,I never did a German version, and that's the one I have left.
Are there any add-on kits around for the 53?I never saw anything over the years,
but it has been a long time since I looked into it.I think that the HH53 C was the first
chopper model I ever built. 1970-71,MAN I'M OLD
Let me know if you want that sheet ,ok

Now that the instructions and painting guides are out of the way...I am STILL LOOKING for DECALS for a USMC (Current Super Sea Stallion) and a USAF (Vietnam era Super Jolly Green Giant) versions of this beautiful aircraft! ANY SUGGESTIONS OR IDEAS???? I do know that SuperScale decals made two sheets (#'s 49-233 and 49-224--I think) for the HH-53; but I think that they are currently OOP---anyone have a spare takign up space in their decals folder? Or know where I could locate a good copy of these?
