Thanks Ray. I searched Google for hours over several nights looking for a diagram like that.
hmills16 42 inches at the arc of the canopy, 36 inches at the sides
42 inches at the arc of the canopy, 36 inches at the sides
Never doubt a snake driver! Here's the pic from the AH-1G dash 10 showing all the main cobra dimensions.

ISTR from the early '70s when I built the 1/32 Revell AH-1G in the info part of the instructions it claimed that its fuselage was "only" 3 feet wide.
hope this helps

3 feet 2.62 inches. there was a mod near the end of its US Army life cycle that re-positioned the air intakes on the transmission cowling that only gave it a few more inches; but I can't find the exact number.
Thanks Mel. That sounds about right as the cabin is only just wide enough to fit a guy in, probably no wider than my pine single bed. Lol.
Unfortunately for me no matter what scale I buy an AH-1 kit in it sounds like it won't be suitable for what I want to do, even a 1/24 scale AH-1 wouldn't be wide enough for what I need, and even if it is it'd likely be too long and heavy. I need about 1.5 inches width free inside to fit some extra parts and about 2 inches in height (or however high the cabin of a 1/48 UH-1 is, I really should measure mine) and I need to keep the weight down.
Having said that I will probably buy a 1/48 or 1/35 Cobra just to make up as a static model at some point in the future.
I've misplaced my good Cobra book but seem to remember the width at the cockpit was 3 ft. This dimension was established by the width of the transmission support frame. I happended to have an old Revell UH-1D transmission well available to measure and it came out to 3 scale ft. Other than the nose and pilots door hinges this is the best detailed compared to the Panda/Dragon kits. If Academy would make an AH-1G comparable to the UH-1C we would have a great Cobra!
Clear Left!

Hey all
Just a quick question -
Can anyone tell me how wide the AH-1 Cobra fuselage is, not the width from one stub wing end to the other, which is what is normally quoted, but the actual width of the fuselage.
I can't seem to find any decent pics with the dimensions on, hence why I'm asking this. Plenty for heli's like the UH-60 and UH-1's though.
Thanks.
