Nice work!

It sounds like it fits together a lot better than the Revell version of this bird.  I don't think I had a surface that DIDN'T have putty on it, some of them a LOT of putty.  I also ended up scratch-building a lot of the smaller parts (grab handles, etc.) since the molding was off a bit.  It turned out very nice, and I picked up a lot of new skills, but got very tired of sanding.

Excellent. I'm looking forward to a more trouble free build after this POS testors kit.

I've heard that corsair can be rough, haven't tried it myself.

The only thing I remember with the canopy is test fit the hinged doors into the main portion before you paint, you'll likely have to do a small bit of sanding, but it is minimal.  I don't think you'll be looking to launch your longbow.

Okay, thanks Groot. I plan on having the doors open to display the figures and pit details. I've put a bit of work into it and I really want to show that off.

I only ask because I'm also working an a 1/72 Testors F4U-1 Corsair.and I've done a lot of scratch building to dress it up. Problem is, that its been a fight since I glued the fuselage halves together. Its a freakish putty monster from heck. I've use styrene and melted sprue and bondo to fill the cracks. I don't want to do that with the Longbow if I can help it.

I've thought about throwing the Corsair a couple times already. The Longbow was a gift from a friend and I don't want to think about it having a disastrous crash just after take off, if you get my drift.

Thank you for the kind words everyone.

Mike,

The fit was pretty good though the canopy took some coaxing.  Do you intend to do it open or closed?  It's designed for open and seemed to dry fit well that way.  My biggest struggle was tracking down the tiny clear parts that I launched into the carpet; I seriously lost several hours, put down a dark sheet or something.  The clear seeker heads for the hellfires are particularly bad.

One thing I did have an issue with was the temperature probe-the part is in the kit, but it's completely left off the instructions (though pictured in the painting diagram of one side view but not the other).  It goes in front of the rotor mast on top of the starboard (right side) air intake.

If you are worried about it, there is a hole on the underside in one of the wheel wells that opens into the bottom of the cockpit.  If you are inclined, it shouldn't be too hard to cover up with some sheet styrene.  I ignored it as I intended to secure it to a base from the get go and it can only be seen from underneath.

Like most Hasegawa kits though, it fits wonderfully.  I used super glue vice putty and didn't have to use a whole lot.  If you use either super glue or the squadron putty/acetone trick it should go pretty quick.

I'm currently working on this same kit. How did the fuselage halves fit together? Putty much?

If there are any areas I should spend more attention to let me know please.  :)

So for some reason I can only put in 4 pictures, so here's the last one.

Here is a recent completion.  The build is pretty much OOB (minus a few parts I broke or that were claimed by the carpet monster).  I did add a single PE placard to one of the Hellfire launchers from the spares box.  I was going for a fairly weathered, well-used look.

I don't know a ton about the Apache so everything was pretty much based on the reference photos I could find online.
