I know how many people here were looking for this kit, but I stumbled across this website that is advertising them for sale. Just wanted to share the info. Here's a link.

I actually had two on order, but then received an e-mail from them saying "sorry, we currently are out of stock on this item", and that they didn't know when they would be getting any more in. They added that they would e-mail me when they got some in stock.
That was about a year ago....I'm still waiting.
If anybody actually makes a successful purchase of this kit from Daves, PLEASE let everyone here know about it.

Ah, don't sweat it Aaron. I ran into that exact same problem a couple months back with a hobby shop here in town. I appreciate the effort - nice to know I'm not the only one trolling around for a Killer Egg

Sal, thanks for that tip-off about Dave's. How're things going up there?

Howdy fellas,

Geeeeez, I guess I should feel lucky. I just recently picked one of these kits up at my LHS where one of the employee's dumped a few of his 'unwanted' kit's into the clearace bin......picked it up for $8.99.

As the old saying goes...."sometimes you eat the Bear, and sometime's the Bear eat's you".

Tread.

FYI.....already started it for a 'Gothic Serpent' dio, but haven't got past the cockpit 'needs'.....;-)

Hey Grant,
No problem. They really had my hopes up too. That and the supposed re-release of this kit which has yet to materialize.Angry [:(!]

Hey, sorry about reponding to your e-mail so late but we just finished an ORI, and Cooperative Cope Thunder 04-1. Our busy season hasn't been all that busy in the civil SAR game. I guess the gene puddle has dried upWink [;)] or folks are getting smarter in the outdoors. We had a few high-vis missions. One where we couldn't get in to a 14,000 ft camp in the Wrangells with the Pavehawk, so we inserted a team down below and worked up the the injured climber. Packaged her up and then brought her down out of the clouds to the -Hawk. Flew to a nearby airstrip, transloaded her to an HC-130, and then into town and a hospital.
Anywho, the Sockeyes are running and I've got a few more fish to top off the freezer for winter. Then in a couple months it's time to start looking for the other red meat...you know....the one with antlers and four legs.Big Smile [:D]

Nice catch Aaron. Smile [:)] I've been checking in with that site about once a week for a couple of months now, even e-mailed them about this kit being re-issued and always got a negative.

Okay, before I give this retailer a shot, has anyone bought from them before? How are they to deal with on online orders? Secure transaction, prompt delivery, etc? Question [?]Question [?]Question [?]Question [?]

If this is turns out to be real, I hope they got enough in stock...

I've ordered quite a bit from them. You can check on the status of your order daily and once it is shipped, delivery is about a week away. I didn't have any problems with the transaction either. I intend to buy this kit from them once I have enough saved up.

Hmm. Ordered the AH-6J and the DML MP5 set this a.m. and the MP5 shows one ordered, available and In Stock. The Little Bird shows one ordered, but 0 available and the status is "Searching For/Reissue."

In other words, hang tight - This ain't quite set in stone yet so ya'll keep your fingers crossed. I'll let you know if and when that changes.

And Aaron, thanks again for the tip off buddy Thumbs Up [tup]

Nothing yet. Haven't seen the payment hit the checking account yet, so it's still in the process of being filled, I guess. I've still got a couple more weeks before I really start to get anxious. Here's to hoping I get a suprise from the UPS guy soon.

Keep the update coming, one of us is bound to get one sooner or later.

That's who I ordered from. The website says it'll take 3-4 weeks for it to be filled once the order is placed. So, I'm at week 3 right now, maybe something will arrive by the end of this week, or maybe early next week. Who knows?

Firstly, hello to everyone - this is my first post.

Secondly, apologies for bumping such an old thread, but it saves me starting a new almost identical one.
Does anyone have an update on the status of this model, either as a reissue or restock? I know this is a perrenial question and one you're probably tired of answering, but as my name suggests, it's my fave helicopter and I have been after this kit for so long...
Any news would be great,
Thanks
Neil.

Saga of Missing Dragon AH-6J Continues
Posted by Trigger on Thursday, September 16, 2004 3:52 PM
Howdy Neil, welcome to the forums. Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Nice screen name.

Ah, the saga of the AH-6J... Disapprove [V]

So you're waiting for a Little Bird too huh? Well the line forms here and goes around the block twice! Big Smile [:D] We've been hearing rumors for months (at least) about this kit being reissued and so far that's all they've been - rumors. The closest thing to official word is you can find a 1/35 Little Bird kit listed on Dragon's website, but that's about it.

Right now I'm waiting on Great Models (www.greatmodels.com) to fill my order, and LemonJello's waiting on Roll Models for the same. We've both been told 2-3 weeks, but that was at least month ago. I talked to him about a week or so ago and he hasn't heard anything else and neither have I. I know Salbando's been searching for one since last year at least. Rest assured, there will be a whole new thread lit up like a Christmas tree when this sucker is actually released and someone get their hands on one! (Yard sales don't count!)

Now, if you can't wait and you don't mind performing some minor surgery, there is a 1/48 (Academy?) MH-6 and a 1/72 Tamiya AH-6 "Night Fox" out there, but both need a little work to make them proper Little Birds. plus side is, it'll be easier to display them next to your MH-60L, MH-60K and MH-47 kits. I've got the 1/48 kit and it's small. I can only imagine how tiny the 1/72 scale kit is! You can also order a MH-6 MELB conversion from Cobra Company (http://www.cobracompany.com/35003.htm) to convert the 1/35 Dragon Hughes 500 Defender to an MH-6. The conversion was intened for the AH-6J kit, but works fine on the Defender (has interior and exterior details). You may have to add some antennae and a box under the exhaust pipe, but that's about it. Cobra Company also sells OD decals for SOAR birds in all three scales.

And don't worry too much about bumping up this thread. People will probably see my name beside it on the main menu now that I've answered your question, and think I got my hands on one and that I'm dropping the bomb here (Sorry, false alarm everyone), so I'll take the heat for it. Black Eye [B)] We need to re-title the thread actually if that's possible...

Thanks for the info Trigger74, I had thought of just making up the 1:48 kit but I really want to do the cobra MELB conversion. I did look at using the MD 500 but to be honest I've had as much trouble finding the kit as the AH-6J, maybe I could find one but you know how it is when you have your heart set on the Little Bird..

As I write this, I have found on the net a place in England that has both the MD 500 and the AH-6J listed in its stock. Tommorrow I will ring them and check, I will post if they have them available - but don't hold your breath.

Thanks again,
Neil.

Built this kit when it was first issued (along with the OH-6A,) nice kit but would like to build again. Would use the Cobra Company conversion for either version since the kit doesn't come with a FLIR turret.
Any one interested in doing an unusual conversion of an EGG, how about an EH-6B (US Army conversion of any OH-6A into a NOTAR) or a true NOTAR (US Army tested 2.) They were never used operationally, since they were found to be underpowered. Same problem the Phoenix PD has found using them. Phoenix received the first 7 off the line from M-D.

Great Model's site says that they have the 500 Defender (kit number DR3525) in stock. I started the 500 to MH-6 conversion a while back, but it's on hold while I work on the Blackhawk group build.

Right now I'm entertaining the notion of applying some of the Cobra details to Dragon's 530G Gunship as a "what-if" next-gen scout H-6 to replace the canceled RAH-66 Evil [}:)]

Sorry to all!! I snatched it up for $18.50 (still cheaper , including shipping, than most internet stores)!!! I couldn't let it get away, especially at that price. I believe Sprue Bros was one of the ones whom everyone was waiting on to get them in. Hopefully they will have more in stock.

Man, it's tempting, but I'm still waiting on the one I ordered from Roll Models. I'm cultivating patience, I guess. There were some other things listed by Sprue Bros I saw from that link, but the prices seemed a little high to me, but then again, it was on ebay.

That is the kit I really want, though. I hope it goes to a good home.

Edited: Man. HeavyArty beat me to it, and posted faster, too. No big deal, at least we know it'll get done up right in his hands.
