Salbando, nice to read you again!
About the hoist you are right... I forgot that it wasn't installed only on Super 61...
"...-61 had a hoist mount, but no hoist was installed. It would be a U shaped piece of metal about a foot long and about a foot forward of the right hand engine air inlet..". (Pat Powers. Crew Chief Super 65)
BTW how does this "spiral antenna radar detector" look like? Can you please tell more about it?

intruder_bass,
Correct except they did have the the external hoist (I'm lokking at a picture of Super 64 right now with it). If I remember correctly they did not have the APR-39 plume detectors on the nose or tail, but they did have the spiral antenna radar detectors (regardless of what's on the movie birds).

I read your replies and looking at some pics I decided to go for DAP Black Hawk, thanks for your help.
Soon I will tell you about my progress with the kit.

I agree with the others. The DAP kit is the one to get. You get all the parts from all the other MH/UH-60 kits combined and the DAP specific parts. You will have lots left over for the parts bin, but also all the parts you will need to build the model you are looking for. The price is only about $5 more as well. Can't go wrong with the DAP.

Agreed. Go with the DAP kit. True, it has parts you won't use, but the UH-60L kit lacks parts you will need.

DAP is the best choice. It has everything u might need for Super 6's and a lot of useless parts (reserve for future projects :-))) Beside IFR probe, esss, pylons, aux tank u will not use troop seats, cockpit doors, hoist, fairings around the main landing gear
strut, Cargo Hook ets.
By the way which one of the Super 6's are you planing to build?

Black Wizard,
Here's a link that has all three Academy kits: http://www.ehobbies.com/more-academy-models-mrc-aircraft-glue-kits-all.html
I'd still go with the AH-60 DAP kit (2217) since that has the FLIR turret and terrain radar. The other kits do not have them. You don't have to add the IFR probe or the ESSS wings; the kit can still be build without them. Have fun!

I search posts about this, and I found a lot of info about the BlackHawks in Somalia, as these choppers did not have the IFR probe, internal fuel tank, ESSS wings or pylons, I'm not sure about the kit.
I read a post made by Rob Savage, who also wanted to build a BHawk as the ones in Somalia. He purchased the DAP BH but then he said he should have purchased the MH-60 kit 2192 or 2201 (which I couldnt find). That's why I would like to know which kit should be best as I'm not going to use the IFR probe, esss, pylons, aux tank.
I forgot to introduce myself, I'm form Argentina, and I recently joined the forum. I was searching info and reviews about the kits, and I found this site, which is really great.
That's all, Bye.

!!! Just as Avus mentioned, go with the AH-60 DAP kit; it has a lot of extras to build a good MH-60L. Academy also makes and MH-60G kit (if I remember correctly it's a "G"), but it doesn't have the FLIR turret.

to the forum!
My opinion is that you get yourself the 2217. In fact, beeing the 2192 a regular Army helo, it hasn't got many details (IFR probe, FLIR, Plume detectors etc) that the MH (special operations bird) has.

MH-60L Black Hawk - Academy 2217 or 2192??

Hello, I want to build a MH-60L BlackHawk just like the ones used in Operation Gothic Serpent.
I have been collecting info about the MH-60L's, but I don't know which kit is best for this project. My options are: Academy UH-60L (Kit 2192) or Academy AH-60L DAP (Kit 2217). Which one should i get??
Thanks.
