Most all of our "slicks" in "71" had a large "mini gun" ammo can between the gunners feet and no "chutes".  174th AHC at Chu Lai.  www.174ahc.org

Graydan, Here is the Eduard set I have used: #49008 Ammunition Belts 12,7mm US. Purchased from Great Models (I'm sure you can buy them elsewhere as well). Their stock #EDU49008. In stock as of 2/22/06. They are "color etch". I've used them on two UH-1N's and a HH-60H and they look fine to me. Pete

You could try useing styrene strips, from Plastruct. When you cut to lenght, add some extra,if you have to put some "bends" in the strip, you can hold them over a candle and mold to shape.Don't get carried away,do a little at a time.To make the ripples in the strip, use a heated X-knife,or use a pattren tracer. One of those sewing things that has a wheel with groves on it.Just be sure to clean it up before giving it back to your wife! Hope this works for you.

Only 60's I saw like that were "free 60's" The chute helped keep the belts from kinking and jamming

I have pictures of Vietnam slicks with both the ammo chute set-up (with a bag to catch spent shells) as well as the exposed ammo belt (no chute covering the belt and no catch bag) .......so at this point I'm looking for either.

I contacted Chris but he did not have any excess belts.

rescuehawk - my computer is as slow as molasses in January.  The Eduard catalog is big.  Could you give me any more info on the Eduard product?

Everyone - thanks for your input.

Cobra Company has vinyl 7.62mm ammo belts in their 1/48 MH-60L conversion set.  Contact Chris there, he will sell individual pieces from his sets.

help with 1/48 m-60 ammo belts

I'm almost done with my 1/48 Italeri UH-1D "Slick" - the only thing left is finding a way to make the ammo belts between the M-60s and the ammo box. I've run out of ideas (everything from supergluing a row of office staples and cutting them to size with a Dremel to using the lead foil from a wine bottle).  Nothing looks as good as I'd hoped.  Anyone got any ideas?  thanks
